Could the BBMF not adopt it when it gets on in life? After all the type has fought for the country and done itself proud It would make a nice formation with the Lanc Spits and Hurricane. Then it could be flown for a whole lot longer as the rest have done.
Not forgetting a whole new generation of people are going to see the Vulcan fly. My memories are not that good but I have seen some fantastic aircraft fly and the Vulcan is up in my top 3 or 4 along with the Lighning. I have been fortunate enough to visit Thunder City once recently but i also saw a whole bunch of them take off at Leconfield. Now i would have liked to see a scramble of Vulcans but missed that pleasure. To me its worth much more than was paid for the Churchill letters by the lottery but that’s just my thoughts.
She’s back inside now. All ok I hope.
From the ebay auction:
This auction is for a brochure listing the contents of the sale of this 1940s Supermarine Spitfire Mk VIII aircraft.
Well spotted.
Thankyou. Might get that A very good idea.. I am seeing Peter Durrant tomorrow who has lots of diagrams and pictures too. I’ve also found a friend of a friend who has access to a Lancaster (believe it or not) and can take you through a proper tour inside. Rumour has it you can taxi it up and down but not take off! Still more to be revealed. The deadline has finished for South London Theatre now for all plays to be submitted so we should have the results as to when, if and how this will go on in 2008 season. Will keep you posted a.s.a.p.
Is that here then? http://freespace.virgin.net/nick.tasker/ekirkby.htm

AIRSHOW CANCELLED
01 July 2007
Due to the recent heavy rain and forecast of more to come, it is with regret that we have decided to CANCEL the Air Show today (SUNDAY 1st July) for reasons of public safety. ..
Doh
Just a though. Have you tried the TV companies to show this? Or don’t you want it shown on TV? Also you could try the Malta air museum for their shop. I say again well worth downloading.
Nice video m8, well done worth downloading
One of my oldest memories is watching three Lancaster Bombers land at what was then Yeadon Airport now Leeds and Bradford Airport i believe for scrapping I think it was the Late 50’s.
Red Arrows parked on the runway at Blackpool and the Vulcan’s still there. How old is this picture?
I will have a look out my window if it’s passing you at 1:30 it should be passing me soon (Joke):diablo:
It’s all relative – there is a Concorde under cover at Duxford and one at Yeovilton. How many of an incredibly limited production machine do you actually need to preserve? Would resources allocated to putting more undercover be better placed in getting unique types under cover such as the Beverley? The arguement for local museums catering for the needs of their area is fine – however realistically how many local museums can actually afford the input required to house these machines and secondly the financial input from members of the public visiting museums can be incredibly small at some times of year.
By all means preserve what we can but be realistic and avoid needless duplication .
Plus G-BOAA at East Fortune, under cover and open to the public or are we just talking about England? Unfortunately the Vulcan XM597 is outside.
What about the nimrod and F4J anything saved from them?
😮 Just go’s to show my aircraft recognition’s poor it was the Nimrod I remember not a victor parked outside the hanger.
Don’t remember a Vulcan only the Victor that was there. You might find out more from here http://www.avrovulcan.org.uk/
This place might be able to sort you out.http://www.relics.org.uk/home.htm
