Re the Gazelle, looks like this one, certainly if the letter is a “C”, looks a bit like a “G” on your photo though.
Hi Simon
What’s up with not making tomorrow at East Kirkby then? Working, no excuse!!
Anyway Woolfox Lodge. As you know it got it’s name from the nearby Woolfox Lodge Manor house, no surprises there then. As for location I was always under the impression it was the lodge to the north of the airfield, east of the A1. If you look at this link to the magic map of the area
at the top is “manor farm” possibly the same. certainly if you zoom in there are a lot of legends such as “camp site” “disused camp” etc. With Magic these are nearly always ex dispersed sites – which would put it in the right area.
Interestingly though I have seen reference to Wolfoxs’ dispersed sites being to the west of the A1, indeed Magic reinforces this with several “suspect” structures shown. However without a doubt there are others to the north.
The bomb dump at Woolfox is roughly southeast, as you know dispersed accommodation and communal sites are always geographically opposed to the bomb dumps, for obvious reasons, again putting the Lodge in the right area.
I know Richard Flagg has had a query relating to woolfox from a correspondent, perhaps he can help further. From speaking to Richard though what is apparent is the hostility of the landowner to people seeking access to the airfield. Perhaps we are becoming victims to the exploits of the 28 days later boys!!
Hope that helps, no doubt someone will post and tell you exactly where it is / was, no doubt blowing my theory apart!
Take care Simon, see you soon mate.

The Meteor’s still missing it’s starboard wing. This is how it looks now, probably same as in June I’d imagine.
Vultee
The event on the 1st July was cancelled, from their website;
“Heavy downpours this summer have seriously affected much of Yorkshire and Breighton is no exception with much of the corral, barbecue area and hardstandings currently under several centimetres of water.
With more rain forecast the Classic Aircraft Aerobatic Competition planned for the July 1st has, regrettably, been cancelled in order to preserve the runway at Breighton”
One of the guys who works there is a friend of mine, I’ll drop him a line, I did mail him last night to see if things were drying out which they are, would have thought he’d have mentioned it last night, I’ll see though.
Was going to departures day tomorrow, will most depart today instead?
Creaking Door
Yes we questioned those large pieces of metal. Our thoughts were are they connected with the MU recovery operation?
Pleased to hear more comments / observations.
One still in situ at RAF Newton.

Hi VX927.
Didn’t get a shot of Susy on the low passes, too busy ducking! It was awesome though.
I have several photos of your Auster which you are very welcome to, can you let me have your email and I’ll send them, better than posting low res versions on here although I can do that should you prefer.
Regards
Agreed, did you see the guy on the Saturday do a bit of “pruning” on his way in? Pic below!
Thanks guys, appreciated.
Is that the one connected with “Lindholme Willy”?

The Starfighter and Lightnings can be found at Fen Lane in Grainthorpe, Lincs. It’s a private farm but a knock on the door usually results in permission to wander around. Some pics from there below
Thanks guys, appreciated
