Well rather than one company ‘kicking the ass of another’ or some models obliterating their competitors, I’d like to see 2005 as a fantastic year for the industry as a whole and for the two big ones.

I don’t care much who ended up top- with that kind of figures I see the final result as a score draw, and both A & B will be very pleased overall in the way the year has gone.

This year should be good too, what with the delivery (bar delays) of the first A380, the design freeze of the A350, the advance in the developement of the 787 and hopefully more hints and details of a successor for the 737 & A320 🙂

As far as you know, are there any plans for building a train or underground stop at the new terminals? I know there is already an underground station at the ‘old’ terminals.

    Good point… probably not.

More the joy for Virgin if that is the case

So much as I would love to see at last some buses being ordered, I believe BA’s love affair with Boeing will prove too strong.

Though if BA is to order planes from all three major long haul markets, 787/A350, 777/A340 and 747/A380, there is always a possibility that it might get some buses for one of them.

I’m pretty sure Boeing would opt for the T7 over the A340. The 787/A350 and the jumbo market remains to be seen.

I personally think, with the Olympics coming and all, that BA would be very foolish not to order the A380.

I must say I really can’t understand why anyone would want to order new 767s today

It makes as much sense as someone placing an order for A300s…

Nice and politically correct from Qatar there, now no-one can complain 😀

If only Air India could take notice… 😉

Looks like a cross from the ‘Audrey 2’ plant in Little Shop of Horrors and the signing mouth seen at the opening credits of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

    LOL.

That is such a great idea. And you know what? £12 seems cheap to me. Provided you get the usual perks one gets at business lounges, that is (i.e. free drinks).

You get a cool place to relax (often with top views of the runways and airside operations), with free press, internet access, away from the crowds and the madness… and as much beer/Bloody Marys/whisky you can stomach… sounds great! 😀

Good stuff, cheers for providing link!

Well engines obviously not there and job not finished but so far I’d say the A330 looks very good in KLM colours!

    Maybe because it is 😉

Both companies will often claim their product is more efficient than the competition’s. You will even find two models competing head to head, with one saying it offers cheaper costs ‘per passenger seat’ and the other cheaper costs ‘per trip’. And then you have to take into account cargo capacity, maintenance costs, commonality…

Which one is better? It’s for the airlines to decide I guess, and usually model A will be the best choice for some airlines and model B will be best for others- it’ll depend on the specific requirements of the airline in question.

Especially since Ms. Condolezza Rice paid a visit to the Indian authorities and an Indian government official was quoted later said the US government had said in no uncertain terms what would happen if Boeing wasn’t chosen…

How long before someone suggests “so-and-so low cost airline orders 737s, devastating blow for the A380”? 😉

Would they? Perhaps they do have a genuine case for making such a fuss. Perhaps the decision had very little to do with which product was better for AI.

I think it’d be best if AI comes clean. At the end of the day, if they explain how they reached the decision and why the Boeing product was better for them, Airbus would be left with egg on their face would they not?

It’s obviously an optical illusion, but the angle looks like 60-70 degrees at least. Brilliant! 😀

Well they say there is no smoke without fire.

I’m sure both companies have had deals snatched out of their hands by their rivals in the past. Yet with this particular deal Airbus is kicking an almighty, unprecedented fuss.

Perhaps they feel there have been dark forces at work, that something highly dodgy/illegal has been going on and that the decision by Air India had nothing to do with choosing the best aircraft for the company.

Or perhaps they’re just having a massive tantrum for losing a deal.
