    XL391 – The Concorde is an interesting part of our history – but ‘important’ maybe not .Certainly vastly expensive and nice to look at – but did it vastly change the shape of air transport – no!

    Why save the damned thing?

    Why Not?

    The sooner XL391 is scrapped the better.

    Why?

    It does no favours to the preservation movement at all.

    Why Not?

    Why is there this mad obsession to preserve everything large and vaguely triangular?

    Seven Concordes and God knows how many Vulcans. Talk about repeated waste of effort.

    Maybe it’s because they are an important part of this countrys history. And they’re bloody beautiful to look at as well.

    I suppose you’d just scrap them all?? I suppose you are a member of Vulcan to the Floor as well?

    My interest is in preservation – the prospect of Duxford’s Vulcan being replaced
    by a non representative civilianised Vulcan at the end of her flying career isn’t what preservation is about.

    Who said XJ824 was getting replaced by 558? I haven’t read it anywhere. 824 will be buried in the new hangar. As for scrapping her at the end of her life, as Moggy says, I’d rather smelt a Lanc than a Vulc…. :diablo:

    Went the other week and fired off a few snaps, unfortunately, too large for here. It was absolutely chucking it down and, from a distance at least, she looks half respectable when the paint (or whats left of it) is wet… 😀
