As I have said before, I wont be writing them off again – perhaps before posting even more gossip, you should all acknowledge what they have achieved.
That’ll be the day…
Excellent News!! 😀 Very quiet on here isn’t it….

Got a collection of pics of ‘825 getting bulldozed that I bought from Colin Mears a few years ago. There was no ‘finesse’ to it, she was just smashed around the pan by the shovel of a large earth mover before being swept into a pile of unrecognisible pile of scrap. I can post them later if anyone really wants to see them?? 🙁
From Wikipedia:
His known passion for single- or two-passenger high-velocity transport led to his brief acquisition of an English Electric Lightning F.1A jet fighter, which was installed in the front garden of his country home. The Lightning was subsequently removed on the orders of the local council, which “wouldn’t believe my claim that it was a leaf blower”, according to Clarkson on a Tiscali Motoring webchat. In fact, the whole affair was a setup for the programme Speed, and English Electric Lightning XM172 is now back serving as gate guardian at Wycombe Air Park (formerly RAF Booker), High Wycombe.
I think his wife was about to kill him. It destroyed his front garden while being moved into position… :diablo:
£150,000 is a raindrop in the ocean compared to what has been raised in the past. I don’t think this is the end…
Or bad if the new owners want her removed or ask for ridiculously high parking fee’s…
I am an engineer – therefore I find flight tests interesting…
Hmmmm….
The flying display for the 1981 show is the stuff dreams are made of… 🙂
Lindy – In all fairness does the museum need to preserve the F-100 in the long term ? It’s not an aircraft that is in danger in the U.K in terms of numbers . Could the space be used to house something else ?
Yeah, like a coffee shop or somethin..
Does anyone know if she still has her engines fitted?? I believe 655MaPS are having 2 of them…
To be honest, on first acquaintance, never thought much of them because of not really knowing their history. But I have done quite a bit of research and now – what an aircraft!! Probably felt the same as the RAF did at the time with all the stuff with the TSR2, to be honest, but after reading, what an aircraft!!
How are the guys at Scampton getting on with the return to flight??
And, not forgetting, you guys at Brunty, i’ve seen the engine and cockpit demos that are superb, but when will one taxi again at Brunty?? I have never seen one and I am desperate…
By the way chaps, sorry for all the questions, haven’t been here for a while due to work etc. I hope everyone is well! 🙂
21st November – would have been me!! Great list by the way, must have took a lot of research of either the WWW or your own memory banks! Excellent!! I wasn’t aware of the EE P1B or Vulcan B2, two aircraft very, very close to my heart. Very happy I now know!! And not forgetting, all the very best chaps!! 😀
