UN is meant to be impartial. They don’t aid anyone. And since they also don’t aid Israel, they are immediately attacked by empty trashtalkers just like you.

 Washington? I think this thread was about Israel.. 😎

BTW, holocaust in WWII was aimed against racial groups, namely Jews, Gypsies and Slavians. Guess what, I am a Slavian. So where is your logic gone now?

Israel cannot afford even to think about attacking a French position. Point. Any attack on a NATO member is considered as an attack on the whole NATO, have you forgotten?

Oh my god, I just realized I’m debating a teenager.
O.K listen kid, impertaila means not taking sides but it’ does mean that
they should prevent terrorist from terrorising their own people and others.
That would defeat the purpose of “peacekeeping”. UN peacekeepers opened fire in your former nation many times killing , Serbs and Croats when it
was nessesary. Otherwise they would be called spectators.

Jews, Gypsis or Slovanian don’t have a monopoly on the word holocaust.
Holocaust is an elmination of a people based on it’s ethnic makeup. This includes Rowandan Tutsi, Bosnian Muslims and the black Muslim population
    of Darfur.

Israel does not think of attacking French positions because Israel invited them in the first place. France is in Lebanon as a part of the UN and
not NATO of which it is a memeber of, but it pulled its troops out of the NATO military command in 1966.

Exactly my point, Norway and other civilized nations have no responsibility for the doings of Israel and Hesbolla, especially since Israel has been hostile to UN forces for more than 30 years.

Or to quote Lou Reed; “there are problems in these times, but oh, none of them are mine” 😎

Maybe if the UN did what it suppose to and not run away when the Arabs tell them too or allow terrorist organization to bulid position next to theirs, they
will get less hostility form Israel. Perhaps asking someone to do their job is asking to much, after it’s not their problem.

Good of you to correct Impi’s version of the history of Palestine. The Israeli claim to the land is only founded i the bible, and since few of us belive in it anymore it is rather irelevant.

However, my intrest is not to choose side in the conflict, but rather to point out that Israel has a 30 year history in attacking UN peace forces, and that i do not belive that these “incidents” are happening by accident.

A good friend of mine made several tours to the Norwegian UNIFIL forces, and can verify this very well.

So in my humble opinion: Pull out and leave BOTH parties to their own devices.

How many of this wars could have the UN prevented if they wouldn’t run
away and neglect their duties (assuming they have any) when Nasser told
them to get lost in 1967? Again my greatest respect for this so called”peace
    keeping organization”.

“On May 16, Nasser made the move that led inexorably to war. He asked the UN to remove the UNEF from the Egyptian-Israeli frontier in Sinai. Once the UNEF was withdrawn, Nasser declared he was closing the Strait of Tiran, which connects the Gulf of Aqaba and the Red Sea, to Israeli shipping–a threat he never carried out. Israel, for its part, regarded the withdrawal of the UNEF troops as a hostile act and the closing of the strait as a casus belli. Meanwhile, Jordan and Iraq signed defense agreements with Egypt. “

That’s simple. I have never seen a soldier who went thru his hell spitting on other soldiers. Only computer screen heroes do that. 😎

UN does one pretty necessary thing – it tries to provide counterbalance. US and Israeli military don’t really need support, as they are more powerful than desired, they need a bit of control.

O.K. I have the greatest respect for the Fijian soldiers, their exellent training
and dedication. If by “counter balance” you mean aiding terrorists to kill
civilians while using their own civilians as shields, then you are 100% correct.
I think your views about Israel and the the US explain why so many
holocausts happened and currently take place in the world. After all the
greatest evil is not in Darfur but in Washington, right?

BTW, If Israel wanted the French position destroyed it can do it quicker and
better from Israeli territory. IAF jet and chopper can fire their missile from
Israel and hit the French camp in Lebanon (jot to mention the MLRS system),
Since the French know that, their “fear” and newly found bravery is based on
someones political goals rather then reality.

I love that part where someone hiding beyond the computer screen has sarcastic comments on bravery of soldiers 😉

How do you know i haven’t served in Lebanon?

My problem is not so much with the UN soldiers but with their political
leaders who send them on a mission without golas or instructions, knowing
that they will fail and the concequances of it.
Oddly enough the UN was created to do the exact opposite then it’s
currently doing in the world. However in comparison to Sudan, Rowanda and
Bosnia the UN hasn’t managed to turn the area to a total disaster.
I suppose we need to give them more time. 😉

Officially? Hezbolla drones and Syrian intrusions, probably.

Less-officially? The USS Liberty, the shelling of the Norwegian UNIFIL post (where an Israeli UAV was flying overhead during the bombardment), the incidents with the German ship and Lynx…

Removing the Israeli UAV “threat” to UNIFIL will definitly increase the chances
of the IAF surgically hitting the bunkers hezzbola built/rebuilding near the UN post (despite the strong resistant of the super brave UN soldiers). 😎

Didn’t they “decide” on an AH-1 variant previously?

    Yes they did.

Politics plays the major role in this sort of desicion. You don’t
want to spend billions only to have an embargo placed on spare
part when you badly need them.
What happened to good old fashioned bribing? don’t people do that
    anymore? 😉

No, in Singapore it lost out to F-15 but it did make it to the final round of trials which Eurofighter didn’t. Man it’s not easy selling jets, you don’t just buy a jet like a car 🙂 You buy policy and business deals on a wide scale… And Rafale never managed to come down in price like Mirage. Also it really haven’t lost out to countries that usually fly French, afaik it’s losing out in new territory.

I think some problems can also be down to simple issues like person to person contacts, eventhough the French can (reluctantly) speak English I have never had the impression that they can do the ‘Business English’ of a confident marketing division.

For instance the Norwegians speak/read English and Swedish perfectly, but if you hand them a manual to Rafale they will look like big question marks since it’s written in French. Thus the buyer have to put more trust into the seller and translations. Just one of the human sides of it all…

Are there foriegn clients that bought the Rafal?
I think Singapore did but I’m not sure. Is it the price tag what
    turns potential cosumers away?

I just said that If Israel is going to invade Leabanon again, it will suffer extensive military defeat. You were the one boasting about going back there to do even more horrible deeds to lebanese civilians, so why you are now crying if I just stated that israeli soldiers will die doing so…Is it so hard to see your heroes fail? 😉 :dev2:

Like i said before, if this is what you wish to believe and this is your
opinion then good for you. Please note that i don’t attempt to prove
you wrong or change your mind as it would be a waist of everyones time.

….Round 2 and Israel will take even bigger beating than this time :dev2: :dev2:

    so, then good for you.
