The crass stupidity of these people in the current security climate really does beggar belief. It makes you wonder whether they have any common sense at all. Anyone delaying a flight through security reasons should lose their right to travel and be forced to compensate the airline and passengers. If it’s a genuine oversight OK. But if it’s because of something incredibly stupid like this incident they should be made to pay.

(And yes, I did get out of bed the right side.)

Wow, and theres me expecting to get slated for my comment!
I agree with you 100% In a situation like this, there realy is no excuse!
If it was medical, then a doctors certificate would have been sensible.

A bit of common sense would tell ya not to wear such a jacket for a flight. Surely she was aware of the current security fears.

Still, no harm done. Better safe than sorry.

I know they’re not going Eurowhite, hence the title of this thread 😉 “not going Eurowhite for new Livery”

I’m just reacting to info given to me by a contact. I’ve developed a few since I began delving into the livery design business.

This livery may not even come about. It may look entirely different to what i have illustrated. I don’t know. Nothing is for certain in todays airline world.

I am fully aware how long it can take to paint an entire fleet. It’s no simple task. The average enthusiasts thinks that airlines just pluck a plane out of the fleet and paint it, but we all know here thats not the way it works. If or when UA paint an aircraft in any new colours, it’ll be whatever happens to be sitting in heavy maintenance at the time.

At the end of the day, a paint scheme resembling the one I illustrate above would bring about a lot of savings for UA 🙂

heres the pic of the 757 without the tight cropping.
This is one of the best angles I’ve even seen a 757 photo from. Really unique

That picture of the EMB gear is that tight, I found it on a.net

How are they going to be making savings by painting their aircraft in the new colour scheme?

every A/c must eventualy go in for mainenance. Paint will scratch, fade and chip. During maintenance a/c can be re-painted. Especially during a D-check which requires the aircraf tot be striped to the bone, paint entirley removed.

Now, when a plane goes in for a D-check, instead of painting it up in the current UAL colours, they’ll paint it in the new colours.

    Simple enough

I agree that UA already have a good scheme, however this is costing them a hell of a lot of money everytime an aircraft need repainting.
Coloured paint is a lot of money in aviation, say £30 a litre.
White paint is cheap and happens to be very tough.

Using an all white, or half white design cuts down on the amount of coloured painted used.

For example, a plain white 757…. about £40-50,000.
A 757 painted in current UAL scheme: Well in excess of £70-80,000

Take those savings, multiply it by UALS fleet size and you soon run into millions.

Further to a bit of digging, I came up with this example:
I think this more accurately reflects the design.

But please bear in mind, this is conjectural and the livery may not even resemble this

I have severe doubt’s it’ll get fixed. The Damage is way too much!.

My bet is they’ll part it out to provide spares for the remainder of their fleet.
Besides, FedEx have 20 or 30 odd DC-10s and MD-11’s sitting in deserts waiting to be converted to MD-10s and brought into service.

    anymore guesses?

Only one person has matched the correct aircraft to the correct picture.
Someone else has said a correct answer but matched it to no pic.

Just to clarify, the 2 pictures are from 2 differet aircraft types.
