Hi archieraf,
thanks for the link – never heared about that Forum before.
Hi Swiss Mustangs,
Thank You so much for sharing these brilliant Pictures with us. Looks like it was a pleasure to be there…
Hi Steve,
If the Junkers W33 should be still in Bremen, then You can find it in a Hangar on top of the Terminal Building ( it´s part of the publik Sightseeing area ). I was there myself about 2 Years ago, it was fantastic to see that historic Aircraft.
Maybe there is a chance to see parts of the Fw 200 C-3 KF+QC WN.0063, they work at them at the Lufthansa Maintenance facilities in Hamburg – Fuhlsbuettel Airport. This is of cause a maintenance repair Shop and no Museum – but Phone (+)49-40-5070-0 and ask for “Lufthansa Berlin Stiftung”; maybe they can help You. They are also responsible for the Ju 52 “D-AQUI” and a Me 108 Taifun.
Hi Steve, I think You are right – it would really make no sense, to create a new type of Code – just to mark some captured Aicraft´s. And if the RAF would have done so, they would have renamed all A/C of this Type, not only a single one. GC-AE for that reason, should have been GC+AE German code.
This leaves me with the old Problem : Not a single other Fw200 is known with a GC+A? Code.
Lots of Work ahead… the Fate of 108 Fw200´s is still unknown, in a total of 280 delivered A/C´s.
Does anybody know, if RAF or other british Authorities, gave Codes / Registrations other than “AIR MIN ::” to captured enemy Aircrafts ?
Maybe, the Code GC+AE was not German, but British GC-AE ?
Hi Geoff,
Thank You very much for these Informations.
WN.0240 TK+CV should have belonged to the F.d.F. (Flugzeugstaffel des Führers) , but the Details are new for me. What happened to the Plane – scrapped ?
Is “War Prizes” by Phil Butler a Book / Publikation ?
I heard about the Registration GC+AE before, but was unable to assign it to a WN…
WN.0111 NT+BK is believed to be lost in Vaernes / N 23.08.42 (2./KG 40). But uncertain, if it was just damaged or a total loss.
Finally, I have no Idea about the auxillary Registration / Markings, have never heared about it.
Again : Thank You, Geoff !
Just received a link, that contains more detailed informations concerning the 109 :
http://www.messerschmitt-bf109.de/php-uebersicht/ueberlebende-ausgabe.php?flugzeug=68
This is a German Webpage, but might be interesting (Story of the 109 from that Picture). Also available are Informations about the “surviveing” 109´s.
I just received more informations :
The 109 from the Picture, is a “Ha1109”, built around 1948 in Spain. It took part in the Movie “Battle of Britain” (Luftschlacht um England), but the scenes were not used. Maybe it looked not original enough.
The plane was then shipped to Augsburg / Germany, to be on Display in front of the Messerschmitt main entrance. Later, it was changed to look like a 109 G-2. It has an original DB 605 engine, wich is for display only ( no engine run possible).
Me (Bf) 109 owned by EADS
Hi,
As far as I know, there is one Bf 109 G-6 flying – the FM+BB. It should have been visited this Years ILA in Berlin, but due to poor Weather situation, this was not possible. There are tight Regulations active, to perform Flights with this historic Aircraft.
Is there a Registry known from the 109 G-2, shown on the Picture ?
