‘Tawney Owl
Essex
Thurston Engineering. Stapleford Tawney Aerodrome,
ALTHOUGH the prototype Tawney Owl (75 h.p. Porsche Type
678/4) met with misfortune on its first flight on April 22 last year,
when it nosed over and was damaged, the project is continuing and
repair work is complete except for fins, booms and rudders. The
accident is said to have been due to lack of power and an unsuitable
propeller. About two to three months work remains to be done
before the Owl could fly again, but this is unlikely to be tackled
before next winter.’

Is this really such a rare example of an old twin that nobody has an idea? 🙁
Hope again there are some ideas around … 🙂
Thanks

The date is right for it possibly to be a product of Talleres Generales de Constructucciones Aeronauticas (later known as TGAM) known as the TTS-5 which was a six seat Mexican transport of 1947. Though that machine was, according to Gunston’s “World Encyclopaedia of A/c Mfrs”, powered by two 200 hp Ranger. I can’t make out from the photo if the engine mounts / wing / engine fairings suggest in line or radial powerplants had been fitted to the airframe depicted.

Sounds good! Do you have any images?

Many thanks for the input chaps – again, very much appreciated. I think I have a PDF copy of said 1/72nd scale plan, plus another, slightly large scale plan.
Does anyone know if model plans exist for this aircraft type – rubber poweredor R/C balsa wood scale model?
