RE: ##### and bull story
Ha ! Were it not for the pathetic nature of the above two comments
I would almost consider them to be hilarious. There I was expressing
my sympathy for people who are victims and here I am being accused
of indicting the very same people whom I am showing my solidarity
with.I still find it remarkable by what stretch of the imagination my
post could possibly have been considered offensive.
PS By the way Sauron, I can sympathize with you feeling jealous
of me.Not everyone is lucky enough to have an MD at 21.
RE: Grow up, Sauron.
For your information, Sauron, I would like to say that I NEVER, not once tried to even vaguely insinuate that what happened in New York was the fault of the US itself, in fact I sympathize with them unreservedly, and wish to feel their pain.In this respect the US is NOT the bad guy at all.As far as I am concerned
there can be no contradiction between supporting and sympathizing with America and it’s people during times of tragedy, and taking exception and exposing certain ( though not all ) aspects of America which I ( and many others ) find unacceptable.
RE: Tragedy Strikes America Again – This is How I Feel
Thank You for your responses… it really helps to think there are people who understand and empathize with the way I feel.Again, I say may God bless America, and help it at this difficult time.
RE: Tragedy Strikes America Again – This is How I Feel
I am absolutely shocked by the virulence of Serendip’s response.Thank you Saab 2000.
RE: My Parent’s Nightmare at Philadelphia
Dear Sauron,
I wish you would try and make an effort, even a small effort would be worthwhile to understand that not everyone who criticizes certain aspects of America is necessarily anti-
American.
RE: My Parent’s Nightmare at Philadelphia
Dear Monster500,
Your story about being mistreated at an American airport is quite interssting. The fact that you were treated like a suspect in spite of the fact that you are an Australian, in spite of the fact that you hold a respectable job
with a world-class airline and despite that fact that you are a resident of a peaceful and tranquil place like Dubai provides an
excellent insight into the mindset of Americans. The sad fact is that the Americans are so much bombarded with negative impressions of the whole of the Middle East that they seem to have developed an almost ludicrously ethnocentric attitude towards that part of the world. For example the US media almost never refers to the violence in the Occupied Territories ( Occupied I may add by the blessing of generous American taxpayers dollars ) as such, but rather as violence in the “Middle East”.Never mind that Palestine only constitutes about one percent of the whole of the Middle East. The war in Kosovo or the Balkans, however, is never referred to as the war in “Europe”.In the same way, they almost always think of Middle Easterners as being people who seem to be fighting since time immemorial over religion but seem almost pathologically incapable of realising that the fight is actually about occupation. ( Just to make people realize what this is all about, how would you expect the average American, European, or Australian behave if they were living under a military occupation stipped of their basic human rights, dignity and personal freedom.Sit back and to negotiate for their basic rights
indefinitely the way the Palestinians have been doing for so long? )By all means let the American use all the means at their disposal to fight against the scourge of terrorism, but unless
they learn to jettison their blatant indifference and ethnocentrism that they once showed towards the Native Indians and Negros, and now towards the Middle East, lasting understanding and concilation will always be light years away.A world free of terrorism, but also a world free of narrowmindedness, ethnocentrism and prejudice is definitely worth hoping for.
RE: My Parent’s Nightmare at Philadelphia
Dear Saudron,
For your information, this story is purely authentic
and is NOT a fairy story…. besides if it was, who are the fairies in it, may I ask ? Why would I waste my time on an aviation web site or anywhere else writing a long article that was’nt even true.
Secondly, this article of mine is NOT anti-American.
All I wished to assert and expose was the injustice meted out to my parents. They were mistreated and humiliated through no fault of theirs.A desire to expose this injustice that happened to occur in the US should not be viewed as anti-American.This being an aviation site, the unjustified behaviour of immigration officials towards the travelling public anywhere in the world should be of concern to the people of this forum.I, as a relative of people who fly regularly, emphasize
the importance of increased security at this awful time,
but mistreating and humiliating people wantonly surely cannot be the answer.
RE: My trip on Air Malta
Thak you for your response – but I must agree that the stewards on Air Malta are really hopeless, they just dont know how to smile.
RE: Tripoli Airport
On the Tripoli Malta sector they usually use the Beoing 727 or the Fokker 28, but in some cases even the Airbus 320
RE: whats the best airline and aircraft you have flown
The two best airlines that I have travelled on and which I liked the most of all are British Airways and Emirates… I think that both of them are fantastic.I like Emirates for it’s service and multinational cabin staff, and I like Britsh Airways for it’s modern planes and great flight attendants.Lifthansa is also a good airline in it’s own right. The best plane I have flown with is the Boeing 777 … it is an amazing aircraft. After that, I would say I like the Airbus 300 and Airbus 310 series, although I would like to try out the A 330-340 SERIES.
RE: Tripoli Airport
Tripoli Airport has made a lot of strides since the lifing of sanctions two years ago. Most of Europe’s major airlines fly their
as do a good number of Middle Eastern and African airlines which include ; Libyan, Tunisair, Egyptair, Royal Jordanian, Emirates, Syrian air, Sudanese, Turkish Airlines, Air Malta, Lufthansa, British, Austrian, Swissair, Tarom, Pakistan International and Cyprus Airlines, among others. The airport has been refurbished and boasts a new duty free section plus first class lounges and an internat cafe.It has a long way to go before it can call itself a world class airport, but it has improved a lot in the past two years.
RE: Colour Schemes
My favourite Airline liveries are as follows-
British Airways – The pold aircraft were dull and boring, but the new ones with the new logo and varied tails are sooooooo cool, and different and unique, In don’t care what anyone says, I love BA’s livery.
Emirates – the old livery was good, but the new one is more modern and very dynamic.
Saudi Airlines – the old livery was nothing special, but the new one is beautiful
Cathay Pacific – the old was OK but the new is really nice
South African – same as the above two airlines.
Singapore- nice livery
Thai airways – nice livery
the worst colour scheme has got to be that oF USAirways… dull and black… it looks like a coffin
RE: Jet on the cover
Yes, Kabir, I too think that Jet Airways is a very good airline. It’s planes are modern, it’s food and service are very good, and it really knows how to treat it’s passengers nicely. It deserves appreciation for bringing the concept of world class travel to the Indian market, even though no such thing existed before, especially with that decrepit Indian Airlines before.
RE: Air Malta good or bad?
I live in Malta so I am in a position to comment as I have flown Air Malta a number of times and use the airport here frequently.
Malta International Airport is modern, clean and efficient and has a good selection of shops. It is also quite attractive to look at and I cannot say that I have ever had a bad experience with it as the staff there tend to be quite helpful.
As for Air Malta, well I cannot say that it is a brilliant airline, but it is not bad either. The planes are modern, clean and boast an excellent safety record, but the seats are not particularly comfy, the food may be mediocre or excellent, depending on how lucky you are on the day, and the service in general is fair. The cabin staff need to learn how to smile a little more.Since the planes are narrow bodied, there is no entertainment. All in all, Air Malta is a respectable airline for a tiny country like Malta, and I cannot say I have had any bad experiences on it, but it is not anything so exceptional either.
Hope I have helped you… and make sure you have a great stay in Malta
RE: Best Airlines in the World: My Own List
I have travelled with a number of international airlines, which include a number of European and Asian carriers. The favourite two carriers of mine are Emirates and British Airways.
Emirates is the international airline of Dubai and has personal entertainment systems for all passengers, and a high quality of inflight service and a multinational cabin staff.I really love them like anything.British Airways is very professional, has great food and flight attendants, and has an impeccable safety record. They provide personal TVs and phones on an increasing number of flights on longhaul services. The overall level of customer care is above average.BA and Emirates are the best so far.Lufthansa is goog, but not quite as good as BA.Royal Jordanian try quite hard.Air India used to be reasonably good, but is not quite what it used to be.Air Malta needs to brush up it’s customer care. The worst so far is Indian Airlines.Avoid them like a plague, and fly Jet Airways to know the true meaning of Indian hospitality and short haul comfort.I have not tried any American airlines, as I prefer BA for transatlantic flights, but I hear that their standards sre not much to talk about.
