Good stuff, thanks Peter.
I wonder who Richard Deterding was? Son, brother? I’d imagine the Messenger would have been kept in our hangar. As I said before, that’d be a great sight to see. I can imagine it now 🙂
That’s one of my all-time favourite twin aircraft. It’ll blow my socks off if I ever got to fly one in my lifetime. Lucky ***! 😀
You’re on!
With a UK microlight PPL, you can get a restricted license that allows you to fly but only with x distance of the aerodrome. I believe you have to do the NAV part of the course to remove the restriction.
Ta!
Jeremy seems to thinkk the first, smaller and narrower hangar was for the Gypsy. I seem to recall from Shuttleworth that the wings are de-riggable?
The later and larger hangar could have been for the Cessna.
I think you’ll have to come up to see me and the Hodges some time 🙂
Waaa! Useful stuff, cheers! 🙂
The Tiger was only a guess. The owner of the strip was shown some photos by family members so only guessed at it’s type. I wonder if the GM was a long-term affair? Would have been great to see the Messenger in an dout of Newnham. Speaking of which, I didn’t realise the hangar was that old.
Where can I get the book from? Sywell?
Neil
I generally find Just Flight’s stuff very disappointing.
Indeed this sort of thing I keep saying in my articles. I wonder why they haven’t sent any of their review material for a while? :diablo:
Could be worse, you could work in Rugby like me!
My limited experience of gliding was much like Moggy’s. You have to have plenty of time on your hands and have noting to do at weekends, i.e. be young. I have to say though a certain aircraft I know after experiencing problems got down safely (before burning itself to toast) at the hands of a gliding instructor who performed very amirably.
If your sole aim is to do a PPL, just get up and go for it. Don’t faff around at Hus Bos for two years before going powered. :p 😉
I’m off for my 5 mince pie this year and also this evening. Do I hear the gym calling?
did my exams in about 4-5 months by doing one Monday night a week study at the flying club. Is the glass half empty or full today RW?
Not a jet either! 😉
Cheers! Well that’s a month or twos worth of reviews I can write for FLYER!
Now to ask for a freebie review copy. Teehee :p
So it’s the oldest jet aircraft in RAF operation then? Or indeed, the world?
Love the snorting exhausts at start-up!
Where can I get this from?
Does a Maule count as a classic? I know post-M4 the looks went but …
How many bright yellow Maggies are there? Looked like Peter’s to me.
