It may have already been stated, but what is the intended armament of the ‘Hyuga’?

“Boeing, Raytheon Tweak Laser-Based Weapons”
Aug 17, 2007
Amy Butler and Robert Wall, Aerospace Daily & Defense Report
Boeing says it plans in the coming months to demonstrate a 1-kilowatt laser-equipped Agile Multi-Role Weapon System, a Humvee-based system against unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices.
Later, the company plans to experiment with the system’s ability to lase on the move. The low wattage requires the operator to focus the energy on a target for up to 40 minutes, company officials said at the annual Space and Missile Defense Conference in Huntsville, Ala.
[WTF. 40 minutes? A Marine scout-sniper’s rifle shot takes maybe three seconds?]

Chitose AB air show, Hokkaidou, on Sunday, 2007.08.05.
Photos of jet fighters with special markings.
F-2A 73-8543, 3rd Hikoutai, 3rd Koukuudan, based at Misawa AB, Aomori Prefecture.
F-4EJ Kai 37-8312, 8th Hikoutai, 3rd Koukuudan, based at Misawa AB, Aomori Prefecture.
F-15J 62-8873, 203rd Hikoutai, 2nd Koukuudan, based at Chitose AB.
F-104J 76-8689, retired, based at Chitose AB.
And some normal F-15J and F-16C, AAM, Blue Impulse, helicopters, Patriot.
] I would assume because few operate F-4’s in a strike role. Let alone a Air Defense one.
AFAIK from my accidental research, the previous F-X, such as F-104 and F-4, trained in air-to-mud and CAS ops, such as up in Aomori Prefecture and Hokkaidou.
Sometimes (very rare), they strafed the wrong objects (civilian bulldozer, golf course, or rehab centre).
Don’t think I’ve read any such training with the current F-X = F-15 though, as the F-1 (retired), F-2, and F-4 drivers already get to haul around the air-to-mud and air-to-surface ordnance.
Thus, instead of F-22 replacing F-4, IMO the concept should be: F-22 (or whichever ATF that becomes the next F-X) phasing in, F-4 phasing out.

From 2007.08.13, ROKAF F-16 resume training fights. ROKAF has about 30 F-16, which have different engine from KF-16.
ROKAF has about 130 KF-16, which continue to be grounded since the KF-16D crash on 2007.07.20.
For comparison, Japan exported the YS-11 (Yusouki Sekkei-11, or Transport Aircraft Design-11), but not the C-1, IIRC.
Off-Topic Alert
For the thousandth time!
Indeed, Japan has exported transport and utility fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft before, including aircraft types that have been bought by the Japanese SDF.
Even retired JASDF jet fighters: Mitsubishi F-104J/DJ Eikou to Taiwan, albeit (documentarily) via USA.
Off-Topic Alert
X-32 Joint Strike Flounder.
Seriously, IMO Japan doesn’t need X-32 or any STOVL fighter. OTOH, Israel, Taiwan, and possibly South Korea do, because of their proximity to their hostile neighbours, with only maybe 10 minutes flight time between an air base and the international border.

JMOD claims/specifies at least two defects that delay the KC-767 acceptance.
1. ACARS (system that displays ground and aircraft flight plan and weather data) screen momentarily freezes. Software being debugged.
2. During night mid-air refuelling, light that shines on boom and refuelling aircraft, angle being adjusted. Production of parts takes time.
(The JASDF/JMOD is apparently so d_mn transparent.)
