] Does Iwo Jima (sorry Iwo To) ever hold any type of Military Exercises???
Yes. JASDF has an air base at Iwo Jima [sic]. In the 1990s, some UF-104Js ended their careers as target drones for F-15Js with live AAMs.
] the RAF & the USN/USMC were the only users of the F-4J [sic].
Picky, picky.

“GD Pitches Ground Laser to Protect Aircraft From Missiles”
Posted 06/21/07 10:25
By KRIS OSBORN
General Dynamics and the U.S. Department of Defense may fast-track development of a ground-based, high-powered laser meant to protect aircraft from shoulder-fired, heat-seeking surface-to-air missiles.
The C-1 already had only 2 engines … 😉
Agreed. Only the QSTOL experimental version C-1 nicknamed Asuka had four engines.

Am I missing any type of ordnance here? (The F-4EJ Kai carries the same stuff in the A/G role correct?)

] About Starfighters, wasn’t there also something with the
] Canadian or Japanese planes (can’t remember) where the
] gun wasn’t fitted, and the moth covered by a metal plate?
WRT the JASDF, the F-104J had the Vulcan.
The F-104DJ was a trainer, and had no Vulcan.
Both were interceptors optimised for air-to-air, and their computers couldn’t air-to-mud mode.
IDK about the Canadians. OTOH, the Taiwanese flew various types of F-104 until 1998; some had the Vulcan, some hadn’t.
] The first use in combat was probably with the F104s with
] the Pakistan AF.
During the low-intensity regional conflict between China and Taiwan until the 1960s, the Taiwanese could’ve first used the Vulcan in combat, before the Pakistanis.
After all, when the Taiwanese F-86 day fighters couldn’t protect Taiwan from potential night raids by Chinese Il-28 Beagle, the Yanks immediately disassembled and delivered USAF F-104 to Taiwan, and reassembled at Tao Yuan AB.
Although the ROCAF F-104 shot down some Chinese MiG, these were advertised as the world’s first GAR-8 (later AIM-9) kills. IDK whether the Taiwanese damaged or shot down any bandit with the Vulcan? 8(
] Obviously this is a very versatile cannon, as we’ve all proved.
BTW, again WRT the JASDF, M61A1 cannons dismounted from retired JASDF F-104 are recycled / reused as the VADS (Vulcan Air Defense System) for point-defense at JASDF air bases.

“Lockheed Martin has 4-month window to secure F-16 sale to Taiwan”
06.19.07, 3:03 PM ET
AFX News Limited
WASHINGTON (Thomson Financial) – The Bush administration has about four months to decide whether to allow the sale of dozens of F-16 fighter aircraft to Taiwan, but some are predicting the US may not support the sale because of Chinese opposition.
