] Don Chan has this obsession to degrade and vilify any combat aircraft that has been used by the RoCAF and/or JASDF,
As I said before, as a Chinese, I’m obsessed, eh, interested in mostly the destruction, eh, attrition
of Japanese military hardware, but not of their real human drivers. 8(
I tend to hijack, eh, borrow a thread with a directly related topic, instead of beginning or
duplicating separate threads with the same topic.

Seriously, nowadays I translate and post only the major accident news in this forum, such as the facts
of the JGSDF and ROCA helo crashes in the past two weeks.
I e-mail the minor accident news to the editors of a few mags and news sites.
I might… clarify the… “fun” of this… “hobby” in the other “Photos of Wrecks” thread…

] The 1980s JASDF also wanted a two-engine fighter for their FS-X,

Long live zombie threads. 8b
Seriously, I’m helping a couple F-104 fan sites in English, to upgrade their data WRT JASDF and ROCAF F-104s.
> High up and under fine weather conditions like in Spain or Italy the F-104 did even had a better accident rate than most comparable fighter of those years.
Both JASDF and ROCAF flew the F-104 as fighter-interceptor.
The ROCAF F-104 dropped like flies, and martyred a heinous lot of pilots.
The accident rates of JASDF one-engine fighters – the F-86D/F and F-104J/DJ – plus the USAF/USMC/USN fighters in Japan, especially when they crashed in cities, also convinced the JASDF to choose a two-engine fighter for their next two F-X: F-4E and F-15C.
The 1980s JASDF also wanted a two-engine fighter for their FS-X, but we all know how the (then) new Bush I administration re-negotiated the FS-X contract.
(IMO, I miss the Japan-bashing 1980s, when China and NATO were overtly more friendly. Sigh.) 8D
ROCAF F-104G 4420
http://blog.sina.com.tw/chuckyen/
A civilian pilot, Mr Yan Jun’s blog, has lots of photos of the return of ROCAF F-104G 4420, from Feng Chia University, Taiwan, to Premier International Classic Aircraft Aviation Museum, USA (“the bride’s family”).
Some disassembly required (understatement).
Click the underlined last line of each photo caption, to open that entry for more photos.
As of today (11 April 2007), the latest entry is dated 4 April 2007.
IIRC, an earlier entry seems to show the F-104G was re-assembled in USA.
