1:72 J-8II by Trumpeter
Just noticed the new box art of the 1:72 scale Shen Yang J-8II Finback B model by Trumpeter (product number 01610) now shows two J-8IIs: 81192 and 81196.

The real J-8II “81192” is reportedly the J-8II that comrade Lieutenant Commander WANG Wei, PLAN, flew on 1 April 2001, when it and an USN EP-3E ARIES II collided, and Wang became MIA/BNR.
I don’t know whether Wang’s wingman on that date is actually 81196 or not?
OTOH, as Trumpeter has the security clearance to mass-produce the 1:72 scale Cheng Du J-10 model (product number 01611), when the real PLAAF has neither confirmed nor denied the J-10 programme, maybe Trumpeter knows something I don’t.
The J-10 in the computer game Battlefield 2 by Electronic Arts is “coincidentally” 81192.
The decals for the J-8II model actually has many numbers for the modeller to customise any number, although 81192 is one of the default numbers.
The Trumpeter official site still has the old box art that shows one J-8II, which is neither 81192 or 81196.

Articles dated 11 March 2005.
On 8 March 2005, about 3 PM, in Hai Nan Province, Wan Ling City, at a reservoir, while some brick factory workers were digging for clay to make bricks, they found the wreck of a J-6 that crashed about 30 years ago…
7 October 1974:
About 8 AM or PM, about 60 km from Ling Shui AB, the J-6 was having an emergency and returning to base.
Reportedly, the control tower authorised the pilot to eject, but he said he was above a village, and flew on, until it was too low for him to safely eject, and he was martyred.
Back then, it crashed into a farm and made a big crater. When rescue personnel arrived, it was heavily raining. Water filled the crater, and the rescue personnel recovered only some debris.
After 1975, the villagers were relocated, and the farm became a reservoir.

Hong Kong, April 4 (DPA) Customs officials at Hong Kong’s container terminal Tuesday reportedly foiled an attempt to smuggle a MiG-29 fighter jet through the territory.
The MiG-29, hailed as a highly effective fighter jet of its day, went into production in the former Soviet Union from the late 1960s onwards and was mostly exported to ally states around the world.
