The 20-member group, appointed by President Jacques Chirac and headed by the national ombudsman, Bernard Stasi, recommended that all “conspicuous” signs of religious belief – specifically including Jewish skullcaps, oversized Christian crosses and Islamic headscarves – be outlawed in state-approved schools.
The report, compiled from six months of study and more than 120 hearings, also recommended that the laws should include a clause requiring “the strict neutrality of all public service employees”.
Some Muslim women had reportedly been insisting on their husbands accompanying them at all times in hospital and accepting only female doctors. The report said the legislation must remind all health service users that “it is forbidden to reject a healthcare worker, and that the rules of hygiene must be respected”.
In a gesture of respect to “all spiritual options”, however, the report said the Jewish and Muslim holy days of Yom Kippur and Eid should be made official school holidays, and companies should consider ways of allowing employees to take off the religious holiday of their choice.
Mr Chirac, who hinted last week that he favoured a law protecting France’s lay republic, said he would make his decision known next week.
“I will be guided by respect for republican principles and the demands of national unity and the rallying of the French people,” he said.

well fair enough if the rafale is used against operaters like vietnam or indonisia that dont have a very big AF. but if france (or any other future rafale operaters) do pitch their planes against an AF such as the RuAF, PLAAF or IAF, then the chances of a rafale being able to catch a MK alone and unescorted would be very romote at best. well at least in the early stages until one side looses so many a/c that either the french AF is so badly degraded as to warrent a downgrade of alert levels of its adversary; or if the adversary looses so many fighters that they are forced to use the MK purely in AA, or are unable to provide adequet escort.

alot of what u just said is very contraversial and novel, but the point that i wish to dispute is the reason that france decided to go its own way.

no doubt the french found the idea of designing an a/c for so many operaters with so many different needs as a plotential problem, but i feel that the reason for the split is more to do with work share and delivery scendual then pure operational need. the french wanted a bigger ‘piece of the pie’ then the brits and germans were willing to give them, and the french also wanted the fighter to be completed fast, and probably didnt think the typhoon would be able to make the deadline.

No inside E-2 is VERY cramp, noisy, hot, smelly and no headroom. You have to shuffle like crab sideways to pass down cabin inside.

No comparison as a whole package with E-3, ERJ, Wedgetail, IL-78.

But radar is good.
