Canberra was flown by Dave Piper.
Sea Vixen was Brian Grants responsability.
Meteor was Dan Griffiths.
Vampire was Paul Morris even though the commentator called him Dave.
Hunter was John Hurrell.
What happened to the Strikemaster that was supposed to be there?
And i think a Gnat would have been appropriate.
The P-40 has been grounded by the CAA and will probably be out for the rest of the season. It is due to a discrepency in the paperwork.
Surely DHA will have to make a speedy repair, as she must be bound to a contract to Red Bull.
The owner is Peter Hellier. It was the flagship of the Hunter Flying Club based at Exeter.
It was unable to leave while i was there. I saw the crew getting in and making it ready then after about 20 mins they got out and closed it up.
Sorry Kev35 but i actually wrote that reply before i found out about the crash. It is a shame that someone died and my sympathies go out to all concerned but threads are not going to stop and people will still make posts.
That’s just what i was going to say. If the leader of the Red Arrows can alter his display line for 9 aeroplanes then surely the pilot of the Lanc can do the same.
I will be there on sunday. I can’t wait, looks to be one of the best airshows for a long time. Hoping not to be disappointed.
Of course i won’t be, the Breitling Fighters are going. Oh and the Sea Vixen.
Just got my copy of the War Lover on region 1 DVD.
Eventually found it after driving round the same open space for 45 mins, then i noticed the blister hanger up by the trees. I went up to it there was a guy there working on a cessna. I asked if we could come in and have a look around but he said no due to health and saftey but was aloud to look in from outside. He also said he was expecting the owner around 5pm, i waited until 5.10 then had to leave.
Maurice has a nice little set up there and hopefully in the future i’ll get a closer look.
I think i read somewhere it is being opened to the public during the summer, can you confirm this or if Maurice will be doing some sort of open day?
When at school my nickname was moose. On my 1st ever visit to DX back in the early ’80’s i was greeted with Stefan Karwovski arriving very low and fast in a certain P-51. When i got a closer look at her and saw the noseart i knew i had found my baby. After that day all my exercise books were adorned with that noseart as is my bonedome today.
The thing that really made it special was my 1st Tiger Squadron convention in 2000. My name was 1st out of the hat for a flight in a certain P-51. OK she wasn’t wearing the right markings but i knew she was my baby.
Yak 11, i’m in the Hardwick area on tuesday. Do you know if Janie would be viewable should i find the airfield?
Watton?
Looks to me to have a cross painted at the end of the runway, so i would guess it’s a closed and recently so RAF base?
My guess is RAF Wyton.
