I started this thread a i read that the rumour around Duxford was that it had been swapped for something very rare. The point of this thread was to see what rarity we could come up with. It seems to have taken a different route.
I for one don’t care where it ends up as long as it flies, of course i’d like to see it stay here but it sitting in the hanger waiting is just going to go on and on at the rate things are happening at the moment. America has the money, let them get on with it.
    I can feel knives already.

I’m pretty certain the MK 5 was IWM. I only know that from talking to a TFC engineer just after TFC had her restored and found out her history as IWM knew nothing about her. The engineer told me that IWM were more than a little upset that they had released such a historical airframe.

When i was at the Mossie museum just before xmas i spoke to the engineer working on the other mossie they are rebuilding and he told me that they were surveying TA634 with a view of making it airworthy.
Kermits mossie hasn’t flown as within a year of arriving in the U.S the wing started to come apart so it was instantly grounded. There is a company in New Zealand that are making brand new wings and the 1st is supposed to be for Kermit.
I would be dissapointed to see TFC’s example go but if i were Stephen and knew that it would never be completed in time for me to fly it then i would get rid of it.
As for any other collection in the U.K buying it, from what i’ve heard he wants top dollar for it and then the cost of restoring it, i doubt anyone in the U.K could really afford it.
I for one cannot wait for the TF-51D to arrive but i know it is owned by Tom Freidkin and it is prbably going to be the same deal as when the F-3F’s were over here.
If memory serves me right i think the Mk5 Spit TFC have was part of the deal with the Mossie.

I would think the reason for Stephen letting the mossie go is that it won’t be ready in time for him to fly it. I bet it would take at least 15 years to get that flying at the rate TFC work and 10 years if it was shipped out to various companies.
Has Stephen got that amount of time left to fly? he must be well into his 60’s.

I just got some plans for an 81″ wingspan Sea Fury. I only want to build one as a static model, G-FURY.
I was put of making it to fly as a friend of my fathers spent 3 years building a really nice Mick Reeves Spitfire MH434 and reduced it to crumbs on it’s 1st flight. Very upsetting.
I’m in touch with a chap who only likes to build them, he then lets a pro fly them.
I will build mine to be a flyer, but i don’t think it will.
Just got to finish this bloody Titanic before i start this one. Her in doors hates me starting more than one project at a time.

If it mean’t that the Vulcan would get the cash to get flying then i think they would jump at the chance of painting the red bull from wing tip to wing tip.
I’d like to add that i love red bull and have half of my fridge full of the stuff at the moment.
    Try a TVR.
    Tequilla Vodka Redbull.
    Keeps you going all night.
Sorry a little too much info there

I think Flacks scarlet squadron was one of the most attractive set of aeroplanes ever to grace the UK airshow scene.
I for one would like to see more aircraft painted like these.
If it wasn’t for Spencer i don’t think we would have been as advanced on the scene as we are today.
If the RAF had their way he would never have got that Hunter flying.
And with his F Off attitude towards the Company Against Aviation i think he could have got alot more done given the chance.

Lancman it’s no wind up about the foxy lady.
I do like your idea about easyjet sponsoring the BBMF and painting the lanc to suit. If it wore an nice bright colour scheme that made it eyecatching then i might change my mind about it looking better on a pole.
I also think that Breitling could have used the OFMC’s Hunters.
Call them The Breitling Hunters and have them in high gloss yellow with Breitling written across the underside of the wing.
