Source: Russia collected a second sample of military transport aircraft Il-112V
A spokesman said that testing will begin in July – August
Specialists of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after N. E. Zhukovsky (TSAGI) and the manufacturer VASO has completed Assembly of the second example of the military-transport aircraft Il-112V is designed for the endurance test, which will begin in July-August 2019. On Thursday TASS said a source in the military-industrial complex.
“In TSAGI assembled the second Il-112V for the endurance test. Are the final preparatory work, testing will begin in July-August this year”, – said the Agency interlocutor. He said that the Institute, he may remain for several years.
The first model of the Il-112V is used for flight testing and first took to the air on March 30, having made a regular landing on the airfield of Voronezh aircraft manufacturing company (VASO). According to the source, if no decision about building two more aircraft for flight testing, the second sample in the TSAGI may be brought to fly.
The second Il-112V was delivered to Zhukovsky unassembled in December 2018 for the static endurance tests at TSAGI. January 18, Alexey Rogozin, who was then the post of General Director of PJSC “Il”, reported that the Assembly of the third and fourth prototypes of light transport aircraft Il-112V to begin in 2019.

I think EODAS and MAW are something like the difference between the FLIR and the IRST, one give you a picture-like image while the others are concentrated on giving the vectorial data of the incoming missile/planes.
It decisively an useful innovation but hardly a game-changer, plane would still need to turn toward the detected object and use the main sensor to engage it.
EODAS is great for awareness and I think it definitely makes sense, especially if you have an effective automated monitoring and multispectral sensors. But because of the ample FOV, it is not very clear to me what is the range of detection of an incoming missile heated only due to air friction, I doubt (very much) it is more effective than the simple detection of its seeker or guidance over RF but ok, it should help at least in the last seconds.
In any case, the Su-57 has already the 360º coverage with the 101KS-U, so, assuming they are UV only and non-imaging, an update to EO-IR may be possible without great impact on the airframe if required.
But these IR on PAK-FA are scanning sensors and not staring ones like F-22 and F-35 MAWS? I guess different design priorities, it seems like Su-57 is better against MANPADS while less optimal against AAMs. Staring IR MAWS require a lot of image processing so it’s probably a lot more complex and expensive.
Why do you think the Su-57 is optimized against MANPADs and not AAM? The plane is not even thought to do CAS, so I very much doubt MANPADs have a big role in the requirements of the plane. But the DIRCMs of course could take care of them, as they would do with IR-AAMs launched by other fighters.
IR missiles will be detected by the 101KS-U due to the engine plume all around the plane, the radar missiles once beyond the burn time of their rocket engine either with the active radar in all of the front hemisphere (actually the FOV of the X band radar is something like 300º) or due to guidance link / ARH by the ESM onboard.
An EODAS system like the one on F-35 is clearly very cool and probably a future standard, it does not mean it is a must now. I think in fact such system is specially useful for CAS and in general A2G roles, rather than to detect incoming missiles.
How much cost the Su-35 S on same circunstances or Su-30 for the RuAF?
The guy in the article in post #1648 already did this job for us:
The basis of our calculations we take a five-year contract for the supply of 50 su-35, the price of which our Ministry of defence agreed in January 2016.
However, according to very serious sources (“News”, the blog bmpd, etc.) the value of the contract amounted to “more than 60 billion RUB”. Of course, “more than 60 billion rubles” — a very vague figure, because a trillion, actually, also more than 60 billion RUB But usually, “more than 60 billion RUB” meaning a figure of 60 to 70 billion rubles. And here, if we assume that 50 su-35 in the end cost us 70 billion rubles, it turns out that the cost of one fighter of this type in the prices of January, 2016 amounted to RUB 1.4 billion. How correct this price?
On the one hand, the first contract, concluded in 2009, involved the delivery of 48 cars over 66 billion roubles, that is 1,375 billion rubles for the aircraft. Since then, much time has passed and one economic crisis, so the experts expect growth of cost of the batch of 50 aircraft to 100 billion rubles. However, the su-35 is almost not grown – why? There may several reasons for this.
First, according to some, the payback of the project su-35 came in the production of 72 fighters, so with further increase of the series triggered the notorious “economies of scale” reduces the cost of the product.
Secondly, in 2015 we have signed an export contract for the supply of su-35 to China – of course, that any profits the manufacturer, but it is possible that the military decided that permission to export already overly “blessed” plant, decided to podsokratit nuts to the next batch.
How much cost of the su-35, if the contract for these 50 cars was today? Inflation is about 1.6 billion.
Interestingly, the su-30SM was worth about the same money – in 2015 it was noted that its average value is 1.5 billion. True, there were rumors that the new contract for the supply of su-30CM, which can be concluded in 2018, the aircraft can rise to about 1.9 billion rubles But confirmation of these data is not, and if you remember, that the price of the second batch of su-35 a long time also predicted at 2 billion rubles. apiece. Again, there were rumors about a very deep modification of su-30CM with the installation of new avionics, etc., and who knows, maybe at the price of about 2 billion. it was about an improved version?
The Russian strategic missile forces receive the missiles of the fifth generation of “Avangard” – the commander
Strategic Rocket forces (RVSN) take-up complex “Avangard”, the infrastructure for the regiment with the arms deployed in the Orenburg region, said commander Sergei Karakayev.
“In Yasnenskaya missile connection infrastructure is deployed to staging missile regiment with the complex “Avangard”, which will be put on combat duty by the end of 2019″,- said S. Karakayev, whose words are cited on Wednesday in the Department of information and mass communications of the Russian defense Ministry.
He said that Russia managed to create a new missile systems that are already operational strategic missile forces.
“We continue to accept the operation put on combat duty stationary and mobile missile complexes of the fifth generation “YARS” and “avant-garde”, – said the commander of the strategic missile forces.
In February, Russian President Vladimir Putin in the message to the Federal Assembly announced the beginning of serial production of new Russian weapons – missile complex “Avangard” with hypersonic warheads. “This year, as planned, will be held in the first regiment of the strategic missile forces,” – said the President.
In the same month, the Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that “avant-garde” will be on combat duty in December 2019.
Leading researcher of the military Academy of the strategic missile forces Vladimir Zakharov in February reported that there is a preparation of personnel, weapons, military and special equipment for the deployment of “avant-gardes” in Dombarovskiy missile division.
“Already this year, the RVSN group appears missile system, equipped with cruise planning unit, able to hit the target with hypersonic speed on ballistics and trajectory, passing in the dense layers of the atmosphere”, – he said.
Zakharov said that when driving towards the goal of a winged block “Avangard” makes controlled maneuvers like side and height, providing the unpredictability of its flight for any missile.
It is known that the original combat units of the “avant-garde” will be installed on Intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), UR-100N utth. Then their carriers will become the new Intercontinental missile “Sarmat”.

“Helicopters of Russia” started production of 100 helicopters, the Mi-28NM for VKS
Delivery of the entire party machinery should be completed by 2027.
Russian defense industry enterprises have already started production of a batch of 100 helicopters to be delivered up to 2027. This was reported by Deputy Minister Alexei Krivoruchko in interview to TV channel “Zvezda”.
“The Supreme commander decided to 2027 to supply the armed forces with 100 cars, the first car put into production,” – said Krivoruchko.
Krivoruchko on the Su-57 order, not very revealing but rather confirming what we have been said already. He hints at further orders, which would be the logical thing for a new plane meant to operate for the next 40 years:
Purchase of 76 su-57, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin, is a unique step which does not resemble the past 40 years. This was reported by Deputy Minister Alexei Krivoruchko in interview to TV channel “Zvezda”.
“This is a very big order. I would have said that such decisions were not taken for the last 40 years. This is the newest plane, a full-fledged fifth-generation fighter,” said Krivoruchko.
He also noted that, probably for the first batch of aircraft, followed by a second, and expressed confidence that in the future these aircraft will undergo upgrades.

I will try to link the interview when available online
I hope this source is not referencing a source like Russian insider because the journalists on that website sound like 4chan /pol/ users and the “oy vey” statement was a dead give away which sounds like it is mockingly being used to reference statements Jewish people usually use. Russia insider is more horrible than sputnik and rt if you got another source that provides the 30-40 million dollar su-57 statements than please provide it if you can.
I have no clue why the guy wrote that, what he meant and whether it was correctly translated, and to be honest it is not my main focus regarding this topic. The values are taken from the Kommersant “sources” which are a bit optimistic but apparently not completely off, if one considers the values practised in other modern fighter contracts and other sources like Izvestia.
https://iz.ru/878906/ilia-kramnik/po…-partiia-su-57
Here other estimation, around 450-500 billons of rubles for 76 units. It included all new weapons and iz-30.
Already posted it on the 18th of May.
The fly-away prices per plane are virtually the same as stated in the article above:
The expected cost of the su-57 in the series, according to sources of “Izvestiya” in the aviation industry, amounted in 2014 to about 2.5 billion rubles, and today, with the influence of inflation over the years, reaches more than 3 billion rubles. With the announcement by Vladimir Putin of a 20% decline in industry prices on new fighter jets, the final value of the contract may indeed be close to the named value, but do not take this figure as the final price of a weapon system.
Some good points about the cost of the Su-57:
https://weaponews.com/weapons/65350875-the-real-value-of-the-su-57-right-the-americans.html
Good to read it all but I select below some highlights:
Most Likely, a fair price for the su-35, when MO is not overcharged, and the plant gets laid him profit, ranging somewhere in the interval of 1.6-1.9 bn, and a fair price on the su-57 – in the gap of 2.23-2.68 billion RUB. That is the real price of the su-57 indeed it may be in the range of 34.5-41.5 million dollars. Of course, the final points over “i” will put a signed contract, but so far there is no single reason to believe that the price tag on the su-57 for our videoconferencing will be higher than these figures.
Everything is very simple. The export price of the su-35 could reach $ 100 million.. But you need to understand that the export contract included a lot of things such that when delivered to our videoconferencing and USAF passes on to other articles. That is, there will be maintenance and training of pilots and ammunition, and maybe something else. And the most important thing.
The Price for our aircraft for VCS determines the cost of these aircraft. This is the pricing – the manufacturer coordinates with the military representatives of the amount of the cost of production of a batch of goods in the amount according to the contract, and then winds on these costs provisions of the law on profit margins.
But the price of our aircraft on the foreign market determine the demand and supply of military equipment. And if the ratio “price/quality” of the su-35 is that it can be bought for 80-100 million. why should we sell it cheaper?
Ironically it’s the lack of controllability at low speed, high alpha that got the pilot into the extremely dangerous situation in the first place. At low speed, high AoA the Su-27 style airframes just want to backflip until their airspeed reaches 0 where they stall and the nose drops back down.
Fankiddies think the cobra is a desired “feature” of the aircraft where instead it’s evidence of an extreme controllability issue under post stall conditions..
That is not what I am seeing in the video. The plane is too high and is going to miss the wires, so the pilot aborts the landing in the last second with an insane save that I would not bet many other fighters can perform. It is the pilot that voluntarily takes the plane to an extreme AoA to end the descent against the deck, not the plane wanting to backflip. Sorry but I see no evidence of what you say.
Two comments:
> Very nice demonstration of the canards in downwards deflection to keep the airflow attached to the wing + body instead of the other way around, as some may imagine they would do in order to lift the nose. Frankly all I see is a master piece of aero design, especially considering this is before the digital FCS of the Su-35…
> This botched approach and landing would not be needed any more, once the carrier landings get automated. It makes no sense to risk so much (and put such extreme training and constant practice requirements on naval pilots) by landing manually when the plane could do it always right and always in the same way with an automated landing sequence. This is IMO the way we will progressively proceed towards unmanned planes: first FBW, then more complex sequences under pilot’s supervision until the plane can take care of most tasks, rendering the pilot a limitation more than a necessary element. Already some functions being made available like that ground avoidance we were talking above, more will come.
First images of the Okhotnik-B that I have seen allowing a fair estimation of its size and its plan view:

SAB is the same with GCAS?
I assume they fulfil the same mission yes
Dreams of the regiment: su-57 creates special military units Aviation regiments of the fifth generation will cover the main strategic directions
For the su-57, the flow of which into the Armed forces announced President Vladimir Putin, will be formed into new regiments. As told “Izvestia” several sources in the defense Ministry, the military part will have a fundamentally different structure. In particular, their composition will be a special ground unit responsible for radar stealth aircraft. Experts believe that the regiments of the fifth generation are created to cover the main strategic directions: Far East, South-West and North-West Russia.
That by 2027 videoconferencing received 76 su-57, Vladimir Putin said at a military conference in Sochi on may 15. Is the number of aircraft will complement three shelf dhaskalio composition, each state should be for 24 aircraft. Another four cars, said the interlocutors of “Izvestia” in the defense Ministry, will be in Lipetsk 4-th Center of combat training. There are pilots-instructors will begin training pilots for the “fifty-seventh”.
Now consider two VCS deployment option parts, where will the su-57. Most likely — the creation of a new regiment and upgrading to the new technique of two active. One cannot exclude the fact that the fifth generation aircraft will get existing units. According to sources of “Izvestiya” in the Ministry of defence, the final decision on this matter will be taken after consultation with the United aircraft Corporation (UAC) of schedule of aircraft deliveries to the troops.
Most likely, the shelf of the fifth generation are created to cover the main strategic directions. One of them will be based in the East, the second — in the South-West, the third — in the North-West of the country, says military expert Dmitry Boltenkov. In his opinion, there is a high probability that one of the first new fighters will take the pilots of the 23rd fighter regiment 303rd composite air division in the Khabarovsk region, which is stationed at Dzemgi. This airfield is used for testing the aircraft factory im. Yu Gagarin (near Komsomolsk-on-Amur), which will be responsible for serial production of the domestic stealth fighters.
In SCD they are trying to put new equipment in the first place in those parts which are close to the manufacturers. In favor of this choice is the fact that the 23rd regiment is the experience of the development of modern technology: a few years ago it was the first part of the force received into service, the su-35, — told “Izvestia” Dmitry Boltenkov.
This approach when adopting new equipment into service for videoconferencing, the military leadership is not committed to the first year. In particular, the su-30CM first got the 120-th mixed aviation regiment of the blast furnace, which is near Irkutsk, which produced these planes.
For the su-57 is currently actively developed new types of weapons. In particular, the aircraft will get a new sverdlovskoy hypersonic missile “air–air” R-37M, which can affect high-speed air targets at a distance of more than 300 km.
Special attention will be paid to the training of personnel for new units, the sources noted “news” in the Ministry of defense. The su-57 is equipped with a large number of sophisticated weapons and high-tech equipment, and new engines — manage need professionals and pilots of the highest qualification.
To fly on the aircraft of the fifth generation su-57 will be the first to admit the most prepared pilots told “Izvestia”, the former commander of the 4th army of VVS and PVO, Hero of Russia, Lieutenant-General Valery Gorbenko.
— New airplanes will be taken into service gradually, he said. — Initially, the aircraft will be tested at the factory, then they will be sent to the State flight test center of the Ministry of defence Chkalov in Akhtubinsk. Here check the equipment and armament of each aircraft, conduct routine tests, and some of the pilots will retrain on a new aircraft.
The regiments of the fifth generation will get fundamentally new ground equipment. In particular, for su-57 to manufacture mobile hangars, where you can track the status of the stealth coating machines, which makes them invisible to radars of the opponent, and find out how flight has affected the visibility of fighter radar, infrared, and other spectra detected. To verify avionics and upholstery su-57 on the subject of non-standard electronic radiation will be personnel.
Equipment for testing electronic stealth su-57 has passed the test in Syria during the combat test of these machines.
what does it say in the photo on the left?

Pants s#@ttingly scary…
I never get tired of that video… simply amazing that a thing the size of a lorry can do such a feat two meters off the ground. High AoA controllability saving the day. But of course we know this is not how the landing we talk about would work.
If we’re talking carrier landings using this method at that AoA, the front landing gear will be damaged as the nose snaps down after the trap.
As the diagram shows, the contact with the ground takes place at a perfectly normal AoA, not at 60º
On a runway, the rear stinger is likely to strike the ground (expensive mistake given the radar in there).
See above.
I read that Russia uses it’s best pilots for carrier ops due to the extreme difficulty in doing standard carrier landings with the Su-33. Doing insanely risky, high AoA landings with 0 margin for error is not something you’d ever trust Russia’s typical 30hours per year VVS pilots with. One small lapse in attention and the pilots will inadvertently pull a pugachev’s cobra right into the ground.
They are much better off using that valuable time training how to survive against far more advanced, stealthier, numerically superior adversaries supported by a fully integrated system of systems for as long as possible.
I have already repeated a few times that the manoeuvre is automated, you cannot trust a man to control such sequence with the required precision, the same way you cannot trust him to control an unstable aeroplane without a digital FCS. So let me repeat it once more: it is not the pilot that would perform that landing, it is the FCS when ordered to so.
