Messenger, AAT and UUL at Casey. The Kingsford smith flying school logo on the workshop hanger was from when casey was used for the filming of “a thousand skies” another abc miniseries about Sir Charles Kingsford Smith

Miles Messenger VH-AVQ still exists in Australia as part of the collection of the Moorabbin Air Museum. This machine originally belonged to Lord Richard Casey of Berwick; a former Governor General of Australia. Moorabbin also has Lord Caseys Hangar which was relocated to the Moorabbin site some 15 years ago. The ultimate aim is to reunite the Messenger with its old hangar.

AAT wearing the markings of Harold Brooks falcon G-ACTM for the (Australian) ABC produced tv miniseries “Half A world away” about the 1936 mildenhall to melbourne air race. I had a vhs copy of this but cant seem to find it now. It had lots of great air to air footage of vintage aircraft.

I think Colonel Hatfield’s (who donated the hangar to the museum) Leopard Moth VH UUL spent more time in that hangar than any other aircraft. 😉

Miles Falcon VH AAT which still belongs to the Hatfield Family exists in Australia too

i have some good photos of miles aircraft in Australia if anyone is interested:)
