There was a test case recently which deemed the reasonable personal use quantity for cigarettes to be around 3200. I doubt this would ever be openly publicised by HM Customs & Excise.
This applies for intra-EU travel only.
Journeys from outside the EU still have the traditional 200 cigarettes allowance per person.
I think smuggling is a bigger problem than is publicised. I have heard of people who have for example arranged an international flight with a BA domestic connection from MAN. This results in MAN T3 being the official entry point back in to Britain – being a predominantly domestic terminal there are a distinct lack of customs officers at T3.
ANA with BA and a few others a close second.
Worth having a look at the BA website if anyone is thinking of having a last scheduled trip before October retirement.
They are offering a restricted number of “discounted” packages, I think the cheapest deal is Heathrow to NY on concorde and return on 744 world traveller for £1999. For an exta £200 you can upgrade to world traveller plus on the return, more for biz class etc.
Never flown it myself although mighty tempting to go for the “cheapo” option……
I like the Air Scotland one, great looking scheme.
Doesn’t look too dis-similar from this one from years gone by….
RE: Cheapest way from Melbourne to Isle of Man??
Malaysian have some good offers at the moment for Man or LHR to various Oz destinations for £499 incl taxes return. For a fraction more they will take you to New Zealand.
I believe this is for travel up to June.
Not sure if that deal would apply for journeys starting in Oz to Uk return.
Usual UK agencies are offering this including travelbag.
RE: 747 SP
I read recently that 45 SP’s were produced and at the time of the book around 22 were still in use.
That book is now 2 or 3 years old so probably around 15 – 20 still operational I would guess.
RE: LBA MyTravel query
Thanks all.
I’ve seen a few pictures of G-PIDS on airliners.net.
This will be my first flight on a 757 so looking forward to it, will post a review in due course.
RE: Jade from Big Brother
Airbus offer downstairs loos as a standard option on the A330/340 family but few operators take this up – cargo space being more valuable.
RE: Seasick air traffic controllers at Arlanda.
what about this one?!!
The tallest tower in the world at KL International which I was lucky enough to see in person last month.

RE: low cost long haul?
Long haul flights need meals, drinks, decent seat pitch, a certain amount of in-flight entertainment, all of which are not factored in by low-cost opertators, or if so then at additional cost.
Adding this all in I think the final equation would not be far of the ticket price with most of the current scheduled carriers.
I for one, and I think most others here, would not be prepared to fly 6+ hours without any of the above! 😉
RE: BREAKING NEWS!!! – New Lo-Cost airline!!!
That really is great news and a good boost to LBA.
I have lived in the Leeds area just short of 3 decades and yet have never flown from LBA due to a combination of limited destinations and too few scheduled carriers, instead heading over the M62 to MAN, LPL or (big groan) battling down the M1/M25 to heathrow or gatwick, often taking 5-6 hours.
RE: SOME PICS I TOOK WHILE AWAY IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS
That BA 747 is also in a rather old c/s.
I know they’ve got a huge fleet but there are still a large number of their a/c in the old scheme – is it a strategic decision to leave the older a/c in the old c/s as these are more likely to be disposed of?
RE: Pic Of The Day-Awsome Twosome!
Looking good. Love the difference in aerodynamics on the 2nd picture.
Nice one Kabir.
RE: Pic Of The Day-Air India B747!
I don’t know why I was under that impression.
I recall there was a colour scheme where AI removed the palace paintwork windows and thought there was a national outcry about this?
As I said “forgive my ignorance” only I do live 4000 miles or so from India.
RE: Guess the airport.
Marseilles??
