Blimey – a black and dayglo Comet!! Now that would be interesting if Cosford put her back into that scheme!!!
All six Indian Flankers arrived safely today. All two-seaters and all identical!

I think a Virgin scheme with scarlet lady would cut the mustard!
…hmm think we can sort that 😉 😉

Joking aside, having been lucky enough to see loads of camouflaged(and white) Vulcans flying, I find myself actually quite excited at seeing an all-red Vulcan flying!! As Vulcan was the Roman God of fire, it would almost be appropriate….wouldn’t it?
Getting her into the air is ONE thing, but doing ANYTHING beyond a first flight is going to take serious sponsorship…..would this be acceptable to keep her in the air?

A big thanks to matt and evryone else who
contributed to this thread, I appreciate it
very much.Just out of interest for anyone else who happens to visit
this thread, the only other Bristol Freighter film that seems
to have been made is the 1988 film The Rrescue.
Really aimed at kids – it does feature Bristol Mk.31 NZ5910
ex-RNZAF plus some great shots of RNZAF aircraft in
action. It has a special place for me as the Korean
prison was built nearby where I lived and I can still remember
the massive lights they used to film night scenes.Cheers

Nice shots of a USAF Albatross landing on the water in that film too:rolleyes:
So if what Mr. B175 says is correct, Cosford’s Britannia should end up looking like this – the REAL XM497!

This would be an interesting one to see if and when……
Website here http://www.imperial-airways.com/Hp42_project_information.html but not sure how recent the news updates are.
I was also going to mention this, which I was looking forward to. A few years ago, there was a stand actively promoting this at air shows, but it’s all gone rather quiet. Perhaps reality has set in and they have realised the logistics and cost make it prohibitive?
Excellent shots Martin – well done! It was indeed the best show ever at Kemble – what a variety! Just needed more sun!
Many thanks Lee. Presume all the shows with ‘Sea Fury’ beside them are the single-seater? Great to see the Sea Hawk will be airworthy for VL Air Day.

Here you are Dave

😎 In 1936/1937 I was aged 7 and I was on my Uncles Farm in Winwick in Cambridgeshire and picking blackberries with my brother and uncle and it was early evening with a cloudless and lovely blue sky with the sun just going down when flying low over the farm was a very large biplane (which we now think was an Hadley Page HP42) it was so low that we could see some of the passengers. It was extermely graceful and it was the first time we had really noticed aeroplanes.
It made such an impression on us both they we could not sleep as we were talking about it most of the night and for days after.
What a nice slow , peaceful era that was!!! it will remain with us forever.dakota
What some wonderful memories and descriptions on this thread, especially from those that were alive in the 1930s. Alas, I was born 20 years later, but would have loved to have seen an HP42 and done my spotting at Croydon.
I think the ’30s were really the ‘golden era’ of aviation. Did you go to to any of the Hendon Air Pageants?
There will be another news update on the website in the next few days giving details of progress/status with all three….
The suspense is killing me! Any news on the Sea Vixen? Will she be allowed to fly in for Air Day, be roaded in for the static, or shall we given up ever seeing her again?:(
Lee,
So what’s the latest on the Sea Hawk, Sea Fury T.20 and Swordfish? Will any be flying at Yeovilton Air Day?
I’ve seen two Su-27 Flankers in formation with an Li-2 (Soviet Dakota) – and they were very nose high.
Ken
Any excuse to use that ‘F’ word in a Kemble Air Day thread!
