That shot of the Viscount is stunning. Such an atmosphere.

That Viscount just happens to be G-AMOG now at Cosford!!

You can issue court proceedings over the web now on a government run site that used to be called ‘moneyclaimonline’. Think it changed its name a while back.

Very simple to do, small fee can be added to the amount of the claim. Once you have your judgement the baliffs can be organised from your keyboard too. It got us a thousand or so quid back a couple of years ago. Very satisfying.

Ususally the first notification that the action has been started is enough to get them to pay up, or ay least talk.

That’s interesting Moggy. I am now wondering how many of my photos have been published and credited to ‘Key Collection’?

Be afraid…be VERY afraid….last time it was discussed on here one or two posters got quite excited about copyright issues and one or two others got pm’s outlining dire consequences to nether regions should they dare to copy the series for someone else! 😮

Just thought I’d mention it!!

    Regards
    Keith :dev2:

Yes Keith, I wasn’t going to mention that VERY sad person! 😡

What Damien says is all perfectly true and good ‘on paper’, but enforcing it is another matter, especially when the two parties are not in the same country.
It is entirely up to the photographer whether he wants to search all magazines, papers, websites etc to see if any of his photos have been used and THEN if he thinks it is worth doing anything about it! Usually these things can be sorted out amicably between the two parties like Damien did. A couple of years ago, I found one of my photos used on the front cover of the ‘Sunday Telegraph’ no less, but with the aircraft’s markings obliterated!
I just happened to be passing a newspaper stand and saw it! I contacted them with a copy of the unaltered original photo plus a copy of a magazine article with the same photo credited to me….and a nice letter of apology followed with an even nicer cheque! Had I not noticed that, that would have been yet another one ‘under the bridge’! Now if they had not paid up, I often wonder if it would have been worth employing a solicitor and taking the newspaper to court over the use + damages? I certainly don’t think it would be worthwhile doing this for an individual, or it could work out very expensive for you!

Why can a photographer “sell” an image of my aircraft taken without my permission after I’ve invested big $$$$$ to buy and operate it? [warbirds cost more than cameras] Not a cracker is ever offered to the real source of their income. I’ve provided my aircraft at big expense in the past to have a photographer offer to “sell me” the pics of my machine. I won’t be doing that again. 😡

What would you want to do, only take it out at night? Sorry, but I think that request is unreasonable as that statement applies to almost anything that is photographed and sold! 🙁 Whatever next? Would you ask a bus company if you could sell a photo of their new expensive bus….would you ask an airline if you can sell a photo of their multi-million $ airliner……would you ask the government if you can sell a photo of one of their aircraft! Yes, warbirds cost more than cameras, so if you can afford a warbird, why complain about someone who can only afford a camera? 😡

    Ken,

This is an interesting point. In the ‘old days’ you could produce a negative or slide to prove the photo was yours, but digital images are a completely different ball game. As Eddie says, copyright exists from the moment of creation, but proving it is another matter! Uploading digital images on to the Internet are indeed putting them in the public domain, for anyone to use for their own private purposes, but you should annotate them with a copyright mark, or even better a ‘digital watermark’ that cannot be cropped out. Several people have politely asked if they can use any photos I post, on their websites and, providing they are not a commercial company, I have no problem with this. It is when they are making money from your photos you need to GIVE ‘EM HELL :dev2: !

She’s just undergone an re-paint into the accurate Reds scheme she wore while on the team in the late ’70’s,

Not quite true! XR537 only served with the Red Arrows during the last two seasons, 1978-79, during which time she had ‘ROYAL AIR FORCE’ in large bold lettering on the nose. Prior to that she was with 4 FTS at Valley, during the period that the Red Arrows Gnats wore the nose ‘lightning flash’, which was 1968-1977. I was consulted by the owners and we decided that this scheme was the longest-lived and best well known, so here you have it.

Sorry to jump in on this thread rather late but I came across this photo of Dakota KN452 taken around 1966 at RAF Khormaksar, Aden by my father. I noticed while search for some history of this plane that there are already pictures of this particular plane on this thread.

KN452 was retired in November 1967 and returned to the UK via RAF Lyneham and then to Kemble for overhaul by 5 MU. The roof titles were painted out and it was displayed at Abingdon in June 1968 during the RAF’s 50th Anniversary celebrations. Afterwards it was sold to the Kenya Police, but not sure if it still survives.

I remember G-APEZ and the Ace Freighters Connies used to be regulars at RAF Lyneham in 1965. Went inside ‘PEZ to find fungus growing on the foam lining the roof and used to drip oil on the pan! Here she is in happier times with Starways at Heathrow in 1963.

One or two more De Havilland military jets for you. This time all vampire T11s, which I suspect were taken in the very early 60s. Apart from that I am not sure by who, when or where. Hoping you will enjoy them. The quality of some is not good due to being scanned from prints.

    1 XE863 coded 20
2 WZ507 coded C and looking very forlorn
    3 WZ507 coded 63 in better days
    4 XH358
    5 XK633 coded VA
    6 XD379 coded 57

#2 – WZ507/C is an ex CATCS Shawbury machine and this was taken at Carlisle. I have a shot of it in exactly the same position, but looking in better condition that this in 1972, so this must be later.

#5 XK633 coded VA is a CFS machine, but it doesn’t look like Little Rissington.

And what insects would be left after a nuclear explosion? 😀

Apparently it was spraying insecticide just to keep down the flies and nothing to do with the tests they were doing.
