Hi John, yes got her going at last, with D Reg driving it. Awesome day! A few small issues to sort out, alas seems we will have time to do it as nothing is happening until the virus war is over.
The first run we did. D Reg had done a slam check . This was suposed to be a slow speed brakes and NWS test then a gentle jog down the runway. Then D Reg just went for it. 125 Knots peak speed (143 MPH!)
XX741 growls and prowls in 2019. 2020 will hopefully see her fast taxi, not much left to get her capable to do that.
Hi All,
Canopener Al – It’s shame it will be his last Jaguar work as he mentioned when first starting the composition. I really like his work and have a number of his Remarques I do though think he has a couple of aircraft missing from his portfolio or rather what I think would make a great addition and they are his shepherding of an SR-71 and I think he would do a lovely B-52 maybe a B58 Hustler ?I suppose though you could go on forever on what particular aircraft he would make a very good composition and I think that the majority these days are commissions ?
Anyway here is another update on this lovely piece of artwork courtesy of :- http://www.facebook.com/MikeRondot

Geoff.
I have brought a copy off Mike. XZ378 looks so much like XX741. Then again I went to Mikes lovely cottage, had a cup of tea, picked up my print and other stuff for something in the pipeline. BTW, the original was a comission for the owner of XZ378, a lovely man that has helped me with a massive donation for XX741 work.
Hi All,
A little update from Michaels new work via his Facebook page:- http://www.facebook.com/MikeRondot ….:eagerness:Jaguar Bounced SAP painting.
This might have looked alright at first glance but it needed a lot of work to correct the errors in the drawing, and after a whole day in the studio it still needs a lot of work.
Among other things…. The curve of the leading edge was wrong but has now been corrected. The leading edge slat has not yet been painted….
The shape and angle of the chisel nose was way out but the probe was correct so I had something to use as a guide.
The roundel is always difficult and very small changes make a big difference.
The cockpit and windscreen are receiving treatment now but I have to leave it to dry off a little or it will all get very muddy and have to be scraped off.
Here are some images that show the progression from “that looks about right” to “that is almost right”. It is all about looking hard and carefully at the real aircraft and trusting your judgement..Geoff.
Already ordered my copy. However my one will be slightly different and Mike and I know why. The painting is a comission for a person that has an interest in Jagaur.
I remember turning the TV on at my mothers (I was back from RAFG for Xmas) and seeing the news flash on Ceefax “Jumbo Jet Crashes in Scotland”. A terriable night. RIP the innocent, the guilty can burn in hell and are doing so now.
Spraying water directly onto a brake fire including burning oil is a bad thing, it can cause explosions. One of the things learned by professionals. Dry powder is recommended as an extinguishant of first choice.
Doubt the Loch will see anything much over the ton. However they must be thrilled that all their hard work has proven with so little pain compared to the the 1955 and 1966 roll outs.
It is a commerical hull loss with paying pax killed. I do not give a fook about the airframe, it is a piece of metal, twenty souls killed I do care about.
She wants to plane..
Yeph, Ted Walsh drove her around on low power handling tests today. Sky News have it on their twitter feed. Well done all.
Well done to Bill and the team.. She looks so good on the water. the nay sayers that believe she should have stayed on the bottom of Coniston can walk. The choccie sauce has done the biz I hope, hopefully onwards and upwards she shall plane.
The space frame is steel and is the load bearing structure. The corrosion on it is minimal I believe. The Sponsons are new material. I would have no doubts in my mind, it is strong enough to plane and the teams only plan is get the craft up to a speed that it can do so.
Personally the K7 restoration is by the far the most interesting restoration project going on period on this forum in my humble opinion, bar mine. The boat was a “HYDROPLANE” so I see the crossover clearly. I have no problem seeing Bill’s team post on here. I marvel at the work they have done and don’t have any time for the key board warriors. They walk, the losers just talk..
Righty Adour now rigged
And the Rudder structural distortion test switch now also works.
We have also assembled our droppers. Adour transit stands have other uses! Waiting for better weather to prep and paint outside.
