I believe the emergency landing was due to a hydraulic failure, hence the loss of power to the landing gear doors and no reversers.
Jet2 could do flights to saudi with there 757 but I don’t think they will some how.
James
Of course we could, but Saudi Arabia isn’t exactly a tourist attraction to UK holiday makers now, is it? 😉
if they do get 767’s i want at least 1 down at gatwick for flights to saudi arabia or somewhere
This is hilarious! 😀 What you want and what you’ll get are two completely different things my friend 😉
First of all, as previously stated the B767 rumour is just that, a rumour! Second, we have no plans whatsoever to expand down at ‘Shatwick.’
well ryanair have started low cost flights from morocco. why cant jet2 do saudi. no reason why it cant.
Yeah, why not? It’s that easy isn’t it!?
Seriously mate, you need to wake up and stop dreaming!…
I believe it sometimes operates the Amsterdam route instead?
Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Gatwick, Nice and Pisa.
As lba spotter stated, it was on a training flight. Arrived back at MAN at approx 15.00.
Hey HON yeah i heard that too do you know the reason? as the air scot has been in lasham for a while now?
Not a clue mate. Sounds as though we’re having the same trouble as we had getting LSAC all over again, but yeah it’s still down in Lasham.
Just to add, yes the B767 rumour is sounding fairly positive at the moment.
I’m now hearing AE will come before AD!?
So where were you flying to?
AB operated to ALC that morning and then Palma in the afternoon. By the looks of the light in the video though, it looks like it was shot mid morning so it’ll be ALC.
Until TFS is introduced later in the year from MAN, those are the only two routes which the B757 will be flying to. Hence why I’m staying on the B737 😉
HON 1R – The 8 hours thing on the B744 may be some obscure FAA ruling however it isn’t the case under JAA rules. Our B744’s do sectors to Florida and all over the Carribean with 2 pilots and flight times over 8 hours. In fact 3 weeks ago I did a Miami as a 2 pilot crew with a flight time of 9.30 outbound and 8.05 inbound.
wysiwyg,
I have always been told any flight over 8 hours requires a third flight crew member. I know when I flew on the B767 to the US and Caribbean a few years back we always carried atleast three flight crew.
As stated, The B747-100,-200,-300 and SP require(d) a flight engineer. The B747-400 only requires two flight crew, although any flight which is longer than 8 hours (no matter what the a/c size) requires a third flight crew member.
However, I’m sure the route will be received well at EMA as Baby don’t offer destinations that far away (tad too far on the 737-300), or Easyjet.
Our B733s occasionally did it on a Sunday last winter from LBA no problemo. I believe one or two other airlines have also used the ‘classic’ B737s to TFS from the UK in the past too.
Haven’t they been looking for quite a while now?
Nope. Until the end of last month we were looking for LBA based only B757 flight crew.
OneLeft,
Check your PMs.
It will be 16 including TFS (And Chambery and Geneva, although there only winter routes areant they)?
Correct.
Why don’t JET2 try and expand down south, maybe they could get Manston going again or even Southend.
Because we are ‘The North’s Low Cost Airline.’
Oh and by the way, we’re now looking for MAN based B757 Captains and First Officers…. If any of you are interested 😉
Has there been any decision made as to what they are going to call it? There was talk of them re-naming it after a Radio 1 DJ wasn’t there?
It was rumoured to being named Jo Whitely Int’l a month or so ago but I’ve not heard anything about it since. As a result of this our fourth B757 (G-LSAD) was then rumoured to be named ‘Jet2 Jo Whitely’ although once again, not heard anything since…
So I’m guessing B757, G-LSAA will be moving bases over to Manchester later tonight when she returns to LBA from eaither Palma or Murcia or early tomorrow morning in time for the first scheduled Jet2.ccom B757-200 flight from MAN.
Yup, if not then it’ll be later in the week.
