If we are still talking about the Silk Air crash then after watching the Air Crash Investigation on the subject evidence for the rudder hard over being the cause it seems pretty definitive in my eyes that this was the cause,

    Wozza

He was in debt of $100,000 and already had several close shaves with death in the past whilst flying.

Not forgetting that the cockpit voice recorder was turned off (it wasn’t the first time he’d done this in his career either), then the autopilot was manually disconnected shortly before the aircraft rolled over into it’s descent and then the throttles were set to full power.

Now if that isn’t commiting suicide, what the hell is?…

2 crashes and 1 suspected crash

I still think the third was suicide and that the Captain thought people would automatically believe it was a rudder hardover as the previous two incidents had happened not too long before…

I can’t really describe it in any way other than it’s the cemetary’s perimeter wall closest to the airport. If you’ve been up there before, you should be able to get a pretty good idea of where the spot is from these shots.

Looks like it’s loud enough to wake the dead… πŸ˜‰

Nice shots. Looks like the PIC of AB is giving it plenty of rudder there shortly before touchdown!

the 757 is on ALC IBZ PMI thats all i know of so far!?

Yup that’s all I’ve heard too so far….

ow i didnt know they have already started 757 flights out of MAN, i really like that livery on the 752! Pretty Intense hours!

    Jon

Nope no B757 flights out of MAN as of yet (apart from a couple which operated for another airline/s). The B757s (AA and AD) are due to start at the end of this month, if not beginning of June.

Oh and as for intense hours, that’s nothing compared to Ryanair or Easyjet πŸ˜‰

If a crew member falls ill down route, they will be offloaded, and the aircraft will run on min crew or -1.

That’s not always the case. If he/she is fit to fly and there is a free seat on the return flight then they can come back as pax.

It was G-CELR and I believe it operated the 785/786 to/from EDI.

Great shots – what were the Fire Tenders for?

They’re just crossing the runway to the otherside of the airfield, by the looks of it….

May i ask why was it at MAN?

I believe it was picking up a rather large load of oil production equipment.

And as Dan pointed out, the loads are not that spectacular anyway!

I’d say this is down to the fact that they operate up to 16 flights a day on some routes (running once every hour) thus the loads are bound to be relatively low. That is of course unless you add the total number of passengers together….

Just wondering is it viable enough to operate CRJ’s on such short sectors?

Why wouldn’t it be? Aloha Airlines operate B737s around the Hawaii Islands. The distance from say Hilo to Honolulu is very similar to LGW-MAN and several carriers operate this route using B737 equipment so I don’t see why a CRJ shouldn’t.

That’s quite interesting. I wouldn’t like to see it try to make FL310 level 65nm before MID restriction, although I don’t think they can go above FL290 because of icing? I could be wrong though?

    Flex 35

I’m not really familiar with the BAe 146 to be honest, but off the top of my head I think they have a ceiling height of 31,000ft.

Shame that Jet2 have leased a BAe 146, it’s hardly the correct aircraft for their operation, especially on the longer routes.

    Flex 35

I agree to be honest. As I said, It also does the occasional NCE flight and will be doing the odd PSA or two when that starts. Although when it’s operating on these two routes it can cause problems due to the range and the possibility of the a/c being over weight.

I happened to ride the 146 from NCE to MAN Saturday before last actually and it was a fairly full flight, therefore we were only able to cruise at FL280 which didn’t really help us make up any time on the 1hr+ delay which we picked up on the ground in NCE.
