I hope the machines the Danes are getting are better quality than the ones delivered to Canada. 😡

Those who do truly hate Muslims are likely delighted with the reaction to the cartoons by Muslim groups in europe the M-E and elsewhere. They can point to the more pathetic aspects of the reaction and the threats being made and say “see how Muslims react- they can dish it out but can’t take it”.

You old jester you. How droll of you. 🙂

A most uninspiring display.
The crowd obviously believed they were going to see a crash and it’s difficult to believe that such a close pass was planned.
The two seater is rather ugly. The Hornet which some here claim lacks “characture” whatever that term is supposed to mean when applied to an aircraft  is positively graceful in comparison.

Lets recap.
The Superbug is still poor today because a GAO report 5 years old detailed a couple of marginal performance issues.
Lets ignor those performance measures which met or exceeded expectations for starters. That would require us to actually read the report.
Lets ignor the fact that the GAO never gives any aircraft it audits a passing grade and sometimes recomends a program be suspended until the technology is further developed or further studies are completed. The F-22 and F-35 come to mind.
Lets ignor the fact that time has not stood still during the last 5 years. lets pretend that no further developments have been made to any of the systems that would enhance the effectiveness of F-18E/F – no sensor, airframe, weapons, powerplant or operational improvements at all.
Lets ignor that the Bug is on the verge of a significant radar enhancement.
Lets ignor the fact that the Superbug has been out there for years doing the job required of todays USN not yesterdays USN. It does what it was designed to do. Lets not pretend that the competition for the USN is proven in combat.
Simulations are one thing, actually doing the job in a war is another.
Lets ignor the fact that the Bug can run rings around the Tomcat in a dogfight and that the F-14 is limited to the same types of weapons as the F-18E/F for BVR. (if lowspeed prowess is irrelevant for the F-18 family it is for the Mig-29, the Eurofighter and Rafale as well).
Lets not pretend that every fighter currently in service is not undergoing some degree of modification and development including those that are only beginning to arrive in significant numbers to be relevant.

The Tomcat lovers will never stop whining. In another 5 yrs someone will probably dig this thread up again.
I saw a Superbug put on a display this summer. Having seen the F-14 a number of times, I would have to say that in a close encounter it would beat the Tomcat everytime.

Perhaps you could enlighten me (us) about your obvious distaste for the Canadians who were injured fighting (horribly burned) to help defend Britain. Perhaps their injuries were less painful (less horribly burned). Less worthy? Were there more of them than the other nationalities that a wing had to be built to accomodate them?
Actually Kev, when one considers the degree of arrogance displayed and the sense of unwarranted entitlment that Britains have always expected wherever they have trod in this world, it is a wonder that no many non-Britains have stepped up to defend the “Empire”. Just look at the role call during WW1 and WW11: Irish, Scots, Welch, Americans, Poles, Canadians, Australians, Indians, Pakistani, New Zealanders, Arabs, South Africans, and others. I have never talked to a Canadian who served during WW11 who felt he had to justify his service record by comparing it to that of a “Britain” or anyone else.
As to Sir McIndoe, perhaps he simply regarded Canadians as Britains and was set straight on occasion.

The latest seems to be that the Pakistan authorities know the names as well as the roles of the four arabs killed and that they were high up in the terrorist food-chain.
