Perhaps the UK should instruct the Americans about how to proceed diplomatically in the Afghan/Pakistan region with the help of say Russia, Iran, Pakistan. (India ?) Surely the application of the superior diplomatic skills that are now solving the WMD issues with Iran could be put to good use and Pakistan could then be persuaded to throw in Mr.BL as a bonus. I am sure France and Germany could help as well. After all, it was the British who drew all the lines on the maps back in the good old days when you could do that without any consideration of the cultural/religious issues and later, simply walk away.

Is there not a rule that against posting a news article such as this one without making a comment or observation or making some point? Perhaps the rule is waived if the posting is about Americans?

It seem Herr Schroeder has been hired by the chief Russian to run the state oil market so perhaps he played a role in the dispute with the Ukraine over pricing. Nothing like threatening your customers and causing doubt about your reliabiliy as an energy provider.

Anyway, the dispute is settled for now.

In the end, Putin has held Russia to a higher standard than some members of this forum would have done in his place, based on comments made above. :rolleyes:

I think the USSR/Russia has been an effective lobby. How many times have we heard that it was Stalin who really won the war?
