I am sure one of the superior europeans will figure out just how Bush caused the hurricane, why he hates blacks, why he did nothing for days on end and all the other nasty things he is still planning to do next. It must be nice to be so brilliant.
Have you ever heard such crap? It continues to amaze me how eager some here are to turn this sad event into another opportunity to critize the U.S. and the Bush administration and blab about something they know so little about except the pap the press puts out daily, the political statements issued by the sore loosers in the American Democratic Party, the finger pointing and blame games played by the state and municiple authorities who have the responsibility but failed to take charge, the outrageous remarks made by the U.S. racists industry headed by those like J.Jackson, Sharpton and others and the many assorted loons and idiots whose only purpose is to create outrage.
The power of the storm, the extent and degree of the damage and the huge population and land area involved, is beyond that which any disaster planning could reasonably prepare for and beyond what even the U.S. military and other agencies could hope to cope with in the last few days.

Regular is about 90 cents CDN/litre here. Then again bottled water is about $2.25/litre. :p

Isn’t this thread about the Typhoon and not the F-22?
However now that it has been brought up, it seems to me that approximately 50 F-22’s have been delivered from one assembly line as SOC has pointed out.

Ja
Why would the design be selected and then rejected if there wasn’t a good reason? Better to face the facts now than spend time and money on an airframe that cannot meet the requirements. The selection was based on a preliminary evaluation.
I didn’t see Boeing mentioned in the Defense News article as posted. The fact that four to six other airframes are mentioned indicates that the final decision has not be made. If a non U.S. design is selected then it must meet the requirement. Why do you automatically suggest that if a Boeing design is selected, other reasons must be involved.
Sounds more to me like the US wants to keep business in their own country! Boeing haven’t been doing well lately especially since the scandle over the KC-767.
What is the connection with the B767 tanker issue? Why would the U.S. military not give an American firm the contract if it is the best choice? Why mention the British ASTOR project? Why assume that if the B737 was not selected because it was too big for ASTOR, that the same would apply to the U.S. requirement? What is wrong with being patriotic?

Well geopolitical reality can also be tragic depending on what side you are on.Take for example the geopoltical reality that The Netherlands may become an Islamic nation. At that point you will have to decide whether or not that is tragic and what brand of phallicism you find more enjoyable. ๐

Someone mentioned that Canada needs a fighter not a “mudmover” yet mudmoving is exactly what our CF-18 force did in the Balkans a few years ago and that would probably be our role in any future NATO operation. The F-35 would IMHO opinion be a good choice for the CAF.
However, I believe the odds are in favour of our going the NZ route for a number of reasons.
The liberal/socialist forces (the Liberal Party of Canada, New Democratic Party, etc) and the elites who control the media, the legal, education, arts and entertainment sectors and the unions, are firmly in charge and growing stronger. Conservative views are routinely ridiculed and conservatives demonized and religious falues are openly scorned.
Our schools teach a revisionist (sanitized) version of Canadian history in which our military history is all but eliminated.
Multiculturalism has retarded the rate of assimilation of more recent immigrants into the broader Canadian culture and encouraged the ghettoization of our cities.
Anti-Americanism and the tendency to blame the U.S. for Canadian failures such as those related to the enviornment, trade, agriculture, public safety, security, etc.
The popular attitude (that grew out of the Cold War) that the Americans will defend us anyway so we can cheat on our own defence while (of cource) reserving the right to critize the way they do it. ๐ฎ
Lest anyone doubt the above, turn on the CBC and watch.

I believe the plan is to eliminate the fighter component of the CAF once the CF-18 is retired.

The tour included all three of Canadaโs northern provinces,
Interesting choice of words. Anyway another example of a missed opportunity to develop a Canadian followup design to replace the Caribou/Buffalo series of aircraft with has served are forces so well. ๐

F1 is a bore. CART, for all it’s problems, is far more entertaining.

I predict that as soon as the F-22 is involved in wars games with other than American forces we will hear that the F-22 was beaten regardless of the type or vintage of the opposition.

Little boy talk. Reminds me of the type of bragging we did when I was 12. A good story 20 years in the making. “Hushed up for fear of causing American blushes.” Yah right, sure sure…..
NATO piliots have been playing bounce for the last 60 years. Big deal.

Lets get back to this in about 10 years when we may actually know just how effective (or not) the thing is.
