Taking the whole national U.S. government out back and shooting them wouldn’t be “American” would it? 😉 More like “European” totalitarianism. Ops sorry. In that case, it’s the government who takes the reluctant citizenry out back and shoots them. 😮

There are approximatey 2 dozen federal political parties in the U.S. at least 5 of whom run enough candidates to form a government. That in addition to the Reform party. They are quite intitled to go out organize, say what they stand for (and what they do not) and convience enough people to vote for them so that they can control the U.S. Congress.

Lets face facts. Backwoods democracy, where are no large political parties and no large national organizations and consequently no possibility to agree on coherent policies and social stuctures to run the nation, are fantacy.

Life’s a bitch aint it. George Washington himself would have to bow to reality and he was no fan of large political parties.

Neo-con is frequently used as a curse in the U.S. by those who oppose the current administration: the DNC, socialists, communists, liberal elitists, leftist anti-war groups, etc. A few years ago you seldom heard the term, now its heard daily. I wonder about what people mean when they use it I think you would be hard pressed to come up with a definition of the term that would not be disputed by many others.

There were instances during the Napoleonic wars where the Royal Navy stopped and searched American ships looking to press members of the crew and look for former seamen who had run. It also pressed seamen from British ships when the oportunity presented itself.

U.S. administrations of both stripes come and go with very little impact on the American way of life or it’s laws. Labels like neo-con and progressive also come and go. Much to do about nothing.

What pathetic B.S.! Three minuites no less!

It’s one thing to have personal and genuine sadness for all the people who have been killed, but there is something phony about a meaningless public display organized by politicians to impress the plebs.

Eric Margolis gets his “opinions” published in my local newspaper (which prints two day old news picked from the AP and other equally dubious sources). He never met a dictator or warlord or terrorist he didn’t admire and claims to have met most of them during the last 40 years. I wouldn’t put much stock in anything the guy writes and his predictions are almost always incorrect simply because they are what he wishes will happen and not based on any reasoned view. I know this because I have a habit of keeping newspaper and Internet editorials, op-eds and similar material, both those that I agree with and disagree with (both are equally useful) and I have many of his.

This thread should have been titled “wishful thinking”.

Who is shouting? I notice you quote only me in that regard. Why? Maybe you only consider comments that conflict with your view of the world as “shouting”. As a mod I think we should expect objective comments from you.

There is nothing in any of your links to suggest that there is any substance to your first statement. Just alot of idle speculation and press BS. Anyone can dig up that kind of stuff on the web.

Whats your point in listing these? They are old news. Lets face it the only reason you made your original comment was to paint the U.S. as the bad guy. How original is that? Is that the only issue that you get off on?

As you can see John no one wants to comment. It might require actually supporting democratic processes in a former Soviet republic and that might reflect poorly on a former KGB agent and we wouldn’t want that would we.
