There is no doubt about the fact that everyone here is outraged about this attack.

The main reason to believe the perps will be identified, is the remarkable level of international cooperation that goes on among the various police and security forces around the world inspite of the broader differences and arguments that we see every day at the political level.

The response by the Spanish people during the last few days is remarkable.

I wonder about the timing of the election. A way for the ETA to terrorize the general population. Then again Al-Q could have planned an attack against Spain because of it’s Iraq involment.

A very sad nasty event either way. Sick minds at work.

Not to worry guys, they will have the Rafale’s growth potential/development issued sorted out eventually, maybe by 2008, maybe not. Then it will be able to match the F-15,…. or maybe not.

No Yanks have responded to this thread so far.

As to the F-35. I don’t believe there is any unanimity about its merits by any group, Americans or others. More development required. 🙂

Why not just develop an efficient steam powered system? It’s proven effective and stream on a warship is hardly a novelty.

So it’s quite clear, the current Rafale dosn’t currently meet the requirements. More development is required. Fair enough.

Yes it does usually end this way. An American design wins fair and square and immediately tha accusations and insults fly that it won because the process was rigged, etc, etc, blah, blah, whine, whine.

For once it whould be nice if someone could actually support their argument with specific details or hard facts (one way or the other) rather than quoting thirdhand speculation, rumour or opinion based on national pride or wishful thinking.

Those with a more balanced view are just as surprised how dogmatic the anti-US posters are.

There are about 150 Super Hornets in service and the numbers are growing every month. Soon there will be 425 give or take. It is serving every day in the USN.

Contrast that with the Rafale which no one seems to want to buy because no one wants to be stuck with a design that even the French seem reluctant about (however some one pointed out, at least all the delays means it has the advantage of allowing emerging technology to be incorporated:D ).

The Rafale Was, and Is and Will be resticted to the air to air role for the time being.

Who are the countries that have bought the F-35? No one. With luck it might fly as a prototype by 2010.

The design doesn’t look all that large. How could it have 12 internal hartpoints in that body? Maybe because we are talking about a concept only.

We are all deeply impressed by your compassion for those “frustrated individuals” who feal compelled to burn American flags and blame the US for their problems.

To bad these same heros wouldn’t burn the flags of the countries that they ran away from in the first place which are the real reason for their frustration.

Maybe they would get more respect if they had the courage of their convictions and act out their frustrations where it would mean something rather than in the streets of some European capital in front of a crowd of leftists who pretend to give a ****.
