You ask what the U.S. is defending itself from which is rather strange in that we are talking about the 9/11 attack which killed about 3000 people. The consequence was the invasion of Afghanistan. Perhaps you will recall that the attack was a sneek attack in contrast to the response which was only done after the Talaban were give the chance to turn over the perps and had wide support including the UN and Nato is currently taking the lead as you know.

What, by the way, would have been the proper response to the 9/11 attack? Just bend over (once more) and lob a few cruise missiles?

While we are talking about Afghanistan I don’t understand why you are asking me if I would “be happy to go to the families of canadians killed in Afghanistan and tell them they died in pursuit of a just cause?” The short answer is no but a longer one who be that I would be just as unhappy to go to the families of Canadians who were killed in Belgium during WW1 and tell them they died in pursuit of a just cause. I know you do not believe Belgiuns in particular and europeans in general are a “just cause” while Afghan as not.

Iraq is another issue and the recent report you alude to contains nothing new. If you are going to hang the fact that there were no WMD’s in Iraq around GWB’s neck, then his neck will have to share the burden with all those in other countries who belived they were there as well.

Lots of anti-American ranting here from those who seem to resent the fact that the U.S. chose to defend itself after the 9/11 attack. The hate GWB crowd would apparently rather die than defend their county because that would mean agreeing with him. The Euro crowd are just pissed that the days when they could sit back and pretend everything was just ducky are over.

Rather than changing the law which rules out Arnie, the one that prohibites a third term should be changed so that GWB can run again. The U.S. needs a man who stands up for his country, not a Democratic ‘pussy’ regardless of it’s sex. :dev2:
