Likewise, Taiwan can make no legal claim to any part of the PRC, they can only claim what they have controlled since 1950!
Thats really funny cause not until recently Taiwan still claimed the whole of China… including Tibet, Mongolia and all other PRC ceded territories. Just read one of their atlas and you’ll know…
Last I remembered Taiwan had a Governor of the Province of Taiwan that had more power than their president ever had.
Not until Lee came to power as president, was Song removed from office in 1993. Heck even Lee himself served as the governor of the Province of Taiwan!
It was a political power strugle that initiated new waves of political black mail and its effect are still present till today.
So all that Taiwan was not a Province of China is really bull since Taiwan has already proclaimed it self as a province of China long before.
And your example with european country does not constitute the situation in China. Simply because your countrie with Germany Ethnic never claims to be a province of Germany… Ever!
Because we listen when China says that they will use force to prevent Taiwan’s independence, even is doing so is the democratic choice of the people of Taiwan in a referendum?
Because we watch when China passes legislation enshrining their right to attack Taiwan if they are not happy with the direction that Taiwan’s government takes on the question of seeking true independance in both fact and name?
Because we remember China’s previous excursions into their neighbors territory (Tibet, Russia, Vietnam and the Spratleys)?
Just a few reasons.
Unicorn
That is really the worst case scenerio you are talking about.
First and formost the the democratic choice of the people of Taiwan is not independance and they have already shown that in a referendum. The choice of the Taiwan people unlike that of their president is for peace and stability. IMO thats a wise choice and more beneficial for Taiwan both politically and economically.
Taiwan independance does not consititute the majority of the population… it doesn’t even constitute more than 10% of the population. All the while roughly 10% support Reunion with the mainland…
China passes legislation enshrining their right to use force to ragain Taiwan only and if Taiwan directs its path toward Independance. It is stated very clearly That China cannot single sidely attack Taiwan. It is as much a limitation to the mainland as is to Taiwan. It sets a clear outline of acceptable actions of Taiwan and do away with the grey line that Chen Sui Bian likes to play. In fact the Law was a better warning than the missile test fire of 1996 could ever hope to achieve.
not unless Pakistan consider to drop the purchase of F-16 where are they going to come up with new fund to purchase J-10?
Secondly the J-10 is just about finished development and thus I don’t think there will be any Joint development phase… will pakistan settle for purchasing end product with relatively small chance for tech transfer?
If Pakistan is considering the J-10 instead of the FC-1 (which I doubt),. then the FC-1 project might be dropped completely as there is no use for two types of aircraft with similar capabilities in the PLAAF…
The Iranian airliner was 3+ nautical miles outside of an assigned 10 nautical mile flight corridor, and it was flying nearly a half hour behind schedule.
Iranian patrol boats had been harassing the USS Vincennes, and an Iranian P-3 was flying nearby – an indication that an aerial attack was an imminent possibility.
After the events of September 11, 2001, it is hard to argue that the USS Vincennes was even at fault in the shootdown of the Iranian A300. Suicidal small boat attacks were used by Iran during attacks on civilian shipping during the so-called “Tanker War,” while suicidal “human wave” attacks (involving ten of thousands of conscripts) were frequently used by the Iranians in the 1980-88 war.
The bottom line is that the captain and crew of the USS Vincennes acted promptly and decisively in a high threat environment. The same cannot be said of the captain and crew of the USS Stark, which had been attacked the previous year.
You also forgot to mention that Iran air was in Iranian territorial waters not to mention it was gaining altitude and not in anyway threatening to the crew of Vincennes. While the crew of the ship tried to coverup by saying the commercial jet was on a decending course the radar actually logged the plane to be on course and ascending.
If you think chasing small gun boat into Iranian waters and shooting down a A300 was the right course of action… that’s some high grade stuff you’ve been smoking…
At the very least there are too much incompetant idiots on that Ship that got so many innocent “civilians” killed.
More likely than not, the only reason the Iranians have come up with the “Misagh-2” designation is to distance China from the potential terrorist acts that will be perpetrated with these missiles.
The Chinese will most certainly disapprove of the use to which Iran will undoubtably put these missiles. China doesn’t back terrorism, even though Iran is the world’s leader in state funded terrorism. It is reasonable to assume that many of the leader in Beijing already deeply regret ever having dealt with the increasingly unstable Iranian regime.
I don’t like that attitude that you hold here. First you assume Iran would use this weapon as a attack on airlines. Yet which airline do you suppose they can attack with a MANPAD? A plane carrying iranian citizens?
For the record Iran has never shot down a commercial airline, while the US have already downed an Iranian airliner killing all onboard.
TAS??? or telephone/electricity cabling??
I thought commercial telephone and electric cables cables are wraped on wooden drums not on metalic ones? could be deep ocean telephone wire though…or deep diving UAV control wires
Electric wiring for factories come in thinner strands and are wired through rigid welded tubes on site. Every wire is built to the energy consumption of that part of the plant and are wired according to the required specs. no whole wire is pre-built. It doesn work that way…
Generally that’s true. But for China’s case, how many IL-76s can she expect to convert into A-50/KLJ-2000s? I might think that the Y-8 with balance beams or circular radomes might also be meant to fill gaps in the A-50/KLJ-2000 availability/deployment.
Well Isn’t the KLJ-2000 converted form regular IL-76D? China just ordered a batch of them… it is likely some of these might be converted to KLJ-2000…
It really depends on what china deems as sufficient AEW support. The current two airframes is not really enough for a country as big as china.
its actually $251 billion (2005 est)
http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/vm.html#Econ
with external debt only $19 billionthe older Asian Development Bank pdf puts the GDP around there and external debt being around 30% of gdp
http://www.adb.org/Documents/CERs/CER_VIE_2000.pdfbut it doesn’t matter.. it’s this kind of nationalistic drivel from hallo84 and the nguyen guy based in traditional animosities that keeps Asian countries apart. fortunately the governments of both countries are moving forward together and have solved a large number of disputes already. China grows, Vietnam will grow along with it. China could use a periphery that isn’t in Africa or Islamic.
actually $251 billion is in PPP estimation and no where wean the real value of only $45.61 billion as stated by the IMF. BTW I don’t like the PPP charts because we can’t really take into account all the prices of all products and what not. Too much variables and usually in the cases of developing countries their GDP figure is usually bloated beyond proportions.
Debt is debt… no matter internal or external. When Gov put out bonds they have to keep to their promise and pay interest. When the time comes the governement have to repay the money. It doesn’t really matter who owns it… its national debt. BTW this money is already included in the government expenditure of the GDP.
And what’s this nationalistic drivel you are accusing me of?
Did I suddently come out and declare I hate Vietnamese or something?
Or did I make nationalistic slurs down play someone?
Calm down Nguyen Hue, too bad only $1 billion was spent I hope VietNam spend more.
OMG how could a single purchase of 1 billion be not enough?
If anything they are already spending way too much.
the official GDP is only $45.61 billion(2005 est) with outsanding debt of 75.5% of GDP…
WTF! Viet Nam consider China traditional enemy and the Vietnamese hate the Chin (I do, too, and I have done a lot in that psocess). Viet Nam nowaday is looking to link up with the US and Japan, (just like those countries are looking for partners in Asia against the Chin).
American don’t need any more client states.American already have Japan and Taiwans as its best allies in Asia. (they doesn’t need american economic support) and frankly vietnam didn’t leave any good impresions with the american public.
Many US’ companies and government official have visited Viet Nam.
and everywhere else in asia…what’s your point? Unless I see any big ticket purchases or joint ventures there is no news.
And while China doesn’t support Japan becoming a permanent member of the UN, Viet Nam does (foolow the news).
What are you talking about? Japan was a member of the UN ever since 1956. Now if you mean the security council then what say does vietnam have? Aside from the support of the five current permanent member no one else have any definate say in this issue.
If you read xinhuanet (what a moronic name), you can see that the Chinese newspaper, since they realized that Viet Nam doesn’t like them, no longer post any stories regarding Viet Nam.
xinhuanet and the rest of the world media ignores Vietnam…
To them Vietnam have little to no impact and are deemed rather insignificant. Now if you bother reading washington post or NY times you will not find much from Viet Nam aside form the rare accounts when natural disaster strikes.
Viet Nam just signed a one billion dollar contract worth of equipments with Russia. That is where most of Vietnamese equipments are going to come from.
Yup a ticket purchase of Su-30s is a cost effective way of providing vietnam less cost effectiveness and thus less capability. Vietnam does not have a need for a Su-30 class fighter.
The more you look at it the more it becomes a dick comparing contest in all SE asia where everyone is teaming up to buy big fighter when in actuallity a small fighter well serve them much better.
India is providing Viet Nam with spares for the Petysa’s and OSA’s. I wonder what those boats are going to be used for since they station and operate close to the Spratly and Paracel islands.
They are used to patrol for pirates , which is common in those waters.
If Vietnam want to enjoy a piece of the Spratly then they have to do their part.
The US and Japan is looking to sign the WTO with Viet Nam soon; president Bush is going to visit soon; more companies are coming; and the US will eventually have Cam Ranh base back, (renting that is).
Last I heard Vietnam refused to rent Cam Ranh to anyone. If the US get it then there will probably be hell to pay… because the Chinese won’t be the least happy to have the americans back.
Don’t freaking insult me and my Vietnamese brothers, the Chin are nothing but a bunch of barbarians and moronic people. You think we are going to forget about evrything that had or is happening??? They are our sworn enemies.
yet you embrace the americans with open arms…lol
what happened to sworn enemies?
hhmmmmmm……………….???
Plus:
Song
That first pic shows a wrong interpretation of the 051C and what I think is the Xia Class SSBN.
No one has seen the 094 type SSBN as of yet. I don’t think that the artist having made major mistakes on the 051C will do any better on the sub…
for any of you that read chinese this attached article may prove to be interesting. (note:it’s in GB chinese so set language setting accordingly.)
It’s a list of official reports of Chinese Defence Research report otherwise called GF report compiled by 714 research institute.
中国国防船舶科技报告
Just by looking at the titles we may have a clear understanding of what PLAN is really developing…
Here are some more stuff from CDF. There are several articles too, but in chinese. We need our translators………
Pic 1 is of the shock reduction system. looks like airbags under the engine
Pic 2 is a stirling system. it’s a test system in some lab by the looks of it.
Pic 3 is a pic of the Siemens fuel cell rated at 120kw. Probably for commercial application but maybe a dual use product?
Again you did not read what was posted above. When did I NOT say that you have the Shtils. I just said that IN knows what Shtils can do…what S-300 can do and decided to stay away from both and go with what Barak can do. Unless you contend that Chinese get the better tech than India…coz that would only open another cannot of whooping for you.
lol… India cannot afford proper Air defence yet you somehow came up with the idea that Barak (point defence missile) is somehow superior…
It doesn’t even come close to what Shtils offer let alone the Rif system
Why is anyone developing long range air defence if point defence is enough?
To heck with the SM2… sea ram all the way!!!
Sure the MKK wins by default it has to do nothing. Coz the Barak 2 will take a few years to online and it will take all that time for the mongolians and ukeranians to get the spares together…cannibals some planes and get the grounded MKK back into the air…while the ace PLAAF flanker pilots fly J-8’s to clock up hours. Right.
LoL that’s even more of a joke…
If it’s vaporware then it doesn’t exist period.
No matter how good you claim the system it simply doesn’t matter.
Heck china supposidly have ballistic missiles that can sink your carrier at a safe distance of 2000km. We’ll sink all your ships now because the system might be done in 2009…
That’s just phony argument!
Please… PLA J-8 pilots are dedicated to only J-8. Unless they have recently been upgraded with J-11.
As far as the name calling goes. Well the honourable adminstrator/chief drone is the one who started resorting to name calling somewhere along Page4 after he/she/it figured that it really cannot defend this cannibal/grounding argument or bring down the IAF to the level of PLAAF. It aint my fault. I just pay back with interest. Kinda makes you think what kind of an admin does one make if you starte making grandois arguments and then resort to name calling once you start seeing your sand castle being systematically washed out. But then I remember this is Oracle’s AFM. :dev2:
…hmmm
I still haven’t figured out what Oracle means…Is that some kind of insult?
maybe if you made it F U then I’d get it…
I gave it a run through ps7 unsharp mask twice.
Maybe it’s not the focus that’s the problem. I don’t see what’s soft aside from the low resolution aspect…
Actuallyif you don’t mind my criticism the picture lack colour depth and contrast in the sky and the surroundings. It looks stuck in a grey smog…
