Not that the proposed systems are bad buys but they are not compatable with the russian equipement that india currently posses. ex S-300PMU and PAC-3 are not the least compatable.

hallo84One thing has me confused….does the Q-5D have a capability to carry precision guided munitions? And on the Q-5E/F (why two letters..whats the difference between E and F), where are the bombs carried? If they are carried on the mid-wing hardpoints, then is there any room for fuel tanks? Do they carry the same Blue Sky targeting pod that has been said to be for the JH-7?
From what i heard the Q-5 due to its limited capasity to carry weapons is only as useful as CAS… There are upgraded ones with laser rangefinder in nose housings. To carry persicion weapon and the Blue Sky targeting pod would be too much for the plane so it is suggested that the plane work in a group of three where one would carry the pod and tho that carried the actual LGB.
There is a new dual seater in developement now… don’t really know if it’s for training or combat…

Highly unlikely due to many reasons!
1) Taiwan does not have or cannot gather enough money for such a purchase! Just look at how long it took for the Pac-3 and the diesel sub to be approved… It still haven’t happened yet! The systems are extremely expensive more so than the diesel subs.
2) US is going to have a hard time convincing the chinese that the Aegis equiped vessels won’t be a serious threat to the PLA! I’d be damned if the USN had to share some of the stats information with PLAN. The french did that with their Lafayette class with it was sold to Taiwan. The funny thing was that mainland china actually got the bigger portion of the rebate when it was Taiwan that baught the vessels!

In any case there are plenty of military fans in Greece but that didn’t stop the authorities there from trying to prosecute a group of tourists who took photos on a base. I know a fair amount about China, but the authorities’ reaction to people who take military photos is not one of my strong points 🙂
Seriously, how do the Chinese authorities react to people taking photographs if they catch/see people?
I had a personal encounter in Hainan island actually…
I was taking photos of PLAN transports outside of a naval base and was confronted by guards. They took my camera exposed my film to direct sunlight and that was the end of that…
Not even questions of why I was even there…I was only was told that picture taking was not allowed especially pictures of the pesonnel onborad these vessels…

The point of the whole arguments is that China in few years will have a quantitative and qualitative advantage in military equipment and better power projection, already it has by no doubts a better Air Force than Australia, the PLAAF is better equipped and has more fourth generation fighters than Australia`s RAAF.
The point being China will be strong and a new challenger to world power balance. but the issue does not concern whether China is going to strike Australia but whether Australia have done enough American ass kissing, or if the politicians have made enough $$$ in under the table rebate.
China is increasing it`s need for natural resources and markets and all empires have imperialistic needs of natural resources and Markets; all Empires can keep those peripheric nations turning around them as satellites thanks to a better economy and a better military.
And china can get the natural resources through legitimate trade like it always has!

Ex. China need more fuel admist its rapid developement and the most urgent source of fuel is oil. But china does not attack malasia or indonesia and capture oil… why? Is it because China can buy it off the international market or is it bacause Chinese leaders are idiots and does not realize there is oil in these neibouring asian countries.

Australia will need to replace one way or another the F-18 they will need to buy something perhaps the cheapest option could be the JAS-39 instead of the F-35, Eurofighter of F-22. only history will tell what they will buy.

Australia is caught in a dead lock in deciding if it wants to forgo american military ties for trade with Asian nations. Especially China being Australia’s third-largest trading partner and our second-largest merchandise import and export market.
