KDX-2 has a 32 cell Mk-41 VLS for SM-2MR and VLASROC. As far as AAW capability goes it should be about equivalent to Dehli, Type 52B or Sovremenny but with fewer SAMs. Its also got 8 x Harpoon which is the same as fitted to Kongo and is range comparable to Sunburn and probably to whatever SSM is on 52C. Additionally the KDX-2 apparently has space reserved for LACM.
Type 052C is also unlikely to be considered operational yet. It is however alot further along that road than the KDX-3 to be sure š The Kidds are certainly no slouch at the AAW game they apart from the US/Japanese AEGIS vessels and the fmr Soviet CGs they have long been the best on the block. The new crop of Euro FFG/DDGs are more sophisticated and the Type 52C should have the edge if its as good as it looks. However the Kidds will still have the advantage of greater magazine space (24 + 44) although they may ship ASROC in addition to SM-2MR. The Kidds are probably also supperior to the Dehli, Sovremenny and Type 52B due to roughly comparable AAW capability plus more missiles. Daniel
Even if the KDX-2 has SM2, the smaller missle count and the lack there of an aegis system limits the thing to point defence Ship with a longer AAW range.
KDX-2 with LACM??? the US have only sold the tomahawk to the Brits and have no intentions to sell it to anyone else. Do you mean a speculative nonexistant indeginous LACM?
Who said anything about Euro FFG/DDGs ??? Where did you get that from???
Kidd have two launch arms for SM2 missile hardly enough to cover for a saturation attack. It is overall a balanced plateform but still I wouldent rate it higher than the 052C.
Oh I don’t know Korean KDX-2/3, Taiwanese Kidds, Indias Dehli’s and follow-ons. Not that it should really be a a case of replacing, all should be considered. Unfortunately Indian is correct and too little is really known about the 052C, particularly its combat data system and wether that is really equivalent to AEGIS or if folks are just assuming that because the PARs look similar to the SPY-1s of the US vessels.
Daniel
KDX 2 is uncamparably smaller and less sofisticated at only 4000t max with SM1 but no aegis capability, no long range ASM, KDX3 isn’t even layed out yet. Taiwan is to recieve “ONE” Kidd only in “LATE” 2006 and the rest are due in 2008-2010. The Kidd have no VSL, yes to a C3I, good ASW capability but also no long range ASM since they are fitted with Harpoon with 120Km range.
Only the Delhi is in operations status but with out Phased array, VSL and maybe on par in performance with the Sovs considering it has many similar systems.
yes thanks I was looking at the link. after some searching on Kvant I have to ask the question – is the radar complex Mineral-ME or the Positiv-ME2 or some new development with Kvant ? it sure isnt the Positiv-ME1 which is a rotating phased array radar and found on some indian corvettes also.
I am unable to find any photos of the Mineral-ME complex other than a entry titled:
http://www.aviapress.com/viewonekit.htm?OTH-225
Mineral-ME shipborne acquisition and target designation radar complexand are the SAMs HQ-9 or straight up S-300 ?
The SAMs are HQ-9 since the naval version of S-300 the RIF is a lot larger. The SAMs are consistant with the ones on the chinese test bed boat.
No idea on teh radar … just have to wait a few month before the PLAN publicize the thing…
Well you really have to ask your self is the Israeli trying to drag US into it’s fight or are the US going to give up on them if the Arab states strike back. By targeting Iran you basically compromised the stability of middle east and not only that but screw up american strategic intentions there. Seemingly the US HAVE NO INTENT TO ATTACK IRAN!
That’s easy to say in retrospective š
Well that shows your educate in such behavior. Ex. I would not go onto an Israeli thread and bring out of the blue a statement like “should Israel be allowed on Muslim Land. Or should Israel be kicked out of Palestan!ā Although the topic may be highly debatable but Iām not going to do that for understandable reasons. You should likewize do the same!
The FACs are almost a joke. The are so uneconomical and unless protected by a fleet they are almost useless. The designers certainly never put range into consideration when they designed the thing…
J-10 is a radical redesign even if it had any lavy inflience. So what’s your point??? there would be almost absolutly no use for any isreali input on the project since almost everything is changed including a bigger powerplant, a new fuselage, redesigned wings (delta canards much like the J-7), no true bubble canopy, no isreali avionics, No isreali weapons suit. Aside from a redesigned chin intake there is no camparason! And by the way jets look alike for same design goals. IE the F15 vs Su27 with conventional layout with belly intake with two engines???
Could the Sub on the left (pic with chinese or japanese writing) be a Chinese Yuan Class Submarine?? Just a rough guess
The chinese say it’s a chinese Kilo don’t know the other though… maybe the lada???
Rather simple, describing the unintentional consequences of serious tension or even conflict between the two countries, which in my opinion will prohibit them from going to far. Though in today’s WSJ a teacher from Yale’s history department described current tensions as a calm before the storm due to the absence of any Asian institutions that allow the countries to increase predictability and to arrange security matters in another way than delicate power balancing games.
All you’ve done is copy material off a marketing text but have close to no understanding of what you actually typed. Your like a student that reads off a text to impress others while give no thought to what you’ve actually read. I feel like i’m talking to my self here. Like i’ve stated there will not be any serious conflict between Japan and China because there will be serious factors to consider on both sides but if prevoked there could be economical retailiation to some degree so that Japan will suffer more than what it hopes to gain from the island. Therefore pressuring Japan to work with China on these issue and not announce unilateral procliamation to the islands.
but you just responded to this thread, i take it that you made your pick haley š
I admitted to vanity but it seems like stupitity on your part now!
true since this is a rocket based aircraft, it’ll need a air intake and some other things but good for POINT defense interceptor. which is what Mr Distiller seems to be aiming for. It’s got high mach, high acceleration, everything he asked for. It is not in the class of say the MiG-25, but more like an F-104 on steroids
The jet feul is all spent in about a few minutes. Now you tell me any good to a plane like that! It’s not even a point defence fighter but a strap on to a rocket period.
… completely off topic and what’s all that flaming about???
people should learn to stop making these stupid threads and i should also learn not to respond to these threads.
That includes you F-18 Hamburger . if you go on with this than it’s either Vanity or Stupidity. Take your pick.
Birch Barlow the 3rd,
how about a modernized version of this or something based on this
Legs too short…and can’t loiter around for long not very good on patrol mission that most intersepters are usually on.
Luthansa is just about the crappiest airline in all of europe!
Cramp seats and horrible flight attendants.
just leaves bad memories..
Bleehhhh, stop viewing these two countries in isolation!!! š”
These two countries are both essential for the current world economy; even the slightest amount of serious tension, let alone shooting conflict, would put the world economy on its ass, to the detriment of the whole world and especially the two countries involved. Why? Simply, because investors want stability and credibility and thus a stable peace without adventurous politicians. Hostile action ==> first hot money flows out and if stability doesn’t return very fast the rest later will go later on and greenfield investment may be cancelled or put to another place.
But hĆ©, the world is already tied to China and Japan, isn’t it? Yes of course it is and that’s why I said “to the detriment of the whole world”. If stability ceases to be, risk premia will go up (discount factors!!) and investments lose value at a rapid pace; people want to get rid of them. Serious financial (whether it be exchange, currency or banking) crisis may not be a strange phenomenon. And of course, the world will take action and not remain passive and may even get seriously involved one way or another. This involvement will have unpredictable results, may be favorable or not, but it will induce speculation (oil/gold prices!!!) and panic on the markets.
IMHO this disastrous economic fallout will prevent these two countries from doing things they will regret.
I don’t know what you’re talking about. This isn’t about creating global economics crisis we are talking about… this is utilizing market strategy. Just like how US and Canadian economy are so closely tied yet recently US inposed 100% levy on all Canadian softwood lumber chief export product in the wast coast, thus to pressure Canada firms and gov’t. Does that mean there is no stability in canadian lumber industry and Canadian economy as a whole and investors are flocking out? No! it only give canadian industries like Buchannon and Weirhuser a hard time when competing in US markets. Now Canadian gov’t might be serious to think about joining the NMD or supporting the war on terrorism.
Now if China were to put a 100% levy on all Jap import cars and see to it that Jap car sales in China head in a parabolic downward curve and the Jap market be replaced by VW, audi, Buick etc. I think then companies like Honda, Toyota etc would be greatly unimpressed by the actions their gov’t have taken in these international issues. There would be pressure or new incentive in Japanese gov’t to solve the problem with the Chinese. Call it an encouraging push in the back if you will…
