    Procurement of Submarines

(Source: Indian Ministry of Defence; dated Aug. 25, web-posted Aug. 30, 2005)

NEW DELHI — Request for proposal for construction of two submarines Mazagon Dock Ltd. Mumbai initially was issued to four firms in 1997, out of which only one firm has responded. Subsequently, it was decided to negotiate for indigenous construction of six submarines under transfer of technology from the French company. No final decision has, however, been taken by the Government in this regard.

This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee in a written reply to Dr. Rajesh Mishra and others in Lok Sabha today.

I really don’t want to take sides on this thread or any Ind-Pak thread but the issue of name should or any case doesn’t matter. Recently, NCAA made this ridicules law that teams which have their mascots named after any Indian tribe or nation will not be allowed. They declared this demeaning and racist towards the Indian nation and its tribes. Well, they forgot that a lot of states and big cities are named after Indian nation also.

A lot of American military weaponry and military establishments are named after Indian and other nations from almost every corner of the world. Be it Titan, Poseidon, Apache, David, Viper, Carter, Bush, Washington, Hellfire, Bismarck, Okalahoma, Nebraska, Fort Bragg, etc,

Name doesn’t matter and it is the sovereign nation’s right to name what ever the feel like.

Which antenna near the nose? The long thin one protruding below, or the bumps and whatnot closer to the radome?

It is the long thin one protruding under the nose and one the tail where there the drag shot is, what is on the top of the drag shot?
