Thanks for hints/tips/comment
jbs – it suprises me that such “World class” museums do not cater for their prospective foreign visitors a little more. I guess the British Museums have more of an excuse in that English is spoken more widely than most other (European) languages and, yes I know, the French are very protective of French.
JDK – I’ve tried about four times to learn French and failed miserably each time  Also, I had thought in investing in a monopod as that may be a little more acceptable – but suppose I’ll have to buy some fast film instead.
TonyA – will be disappointed not to see the engine room. I was delighted at the Brussels Museum a couple of years ago to come across an R.A.F. 4a with a maker’s plate “Daimler, Coventry” on it – built in my home city.

[QUOTE=FMK.6JOHN]what the h*!! is going on with the interior?, all that iron oxide riddled roof beams will not help the corrosion situation on some airframes.[QUOTE]
Are you sure it is iron oxide and not brown paint?
[QUOTE] I will reserve judgement until the grand opening but I shall not be holding my breath!!!. [QUOTE]
an’ if yer don’t start saying some nice things about this lot yer won’t get invited to no grand opening :p

Thanks TonyA.
Friend I’m going with had looked at the Musee de L’air site but was unclear. I am suprised a museum of such stature doesn’t have an English version.

Have just seen an advert in the Stratford upon Avon Herald for yesterday’s Wellesbourne Wings and Wheels/Vulcan taxiing event. It says
“Static display including Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawk and de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver”
Just checked with a friend who went there who confirms Beaver was there but Peter Teichman’s P-40 wasn’t.

Have you tried e-mailing the Smithsonian?
I sent them a question last year and, after an acknowledgement, got a reply about two weeks later.

Stab in the dark – likely the aeroplane was an HM.14 Pou du Ciel (Flying Flea)?

The intermeshing rotor concept actually first flew on a 2-seater (3 in a pinch) German design [Flettner FL-282] during WW2… even operating from ships!
As well as the Kaman HH-43 Huskie (illustrated in post 57) MAM also has most of a genuine WW2 Flettner Fl-282 on display at Baginton.
The HH-43, incidentally, actually displayed it’s Rescue capability at at least one Coventry Air Pageant when it was based at USAF Upper Heyford.

Have to talk nicely to the Bank Manager…. how much is the new one?

Perhaps someone at MAM with a digital camera could oblige? – It’s a long time since I’ve seen it but I think the panel on EE531 is complete.

Rare engine (A.S. Genet) which might mean it’ll be grounded for some time whilst spares are sought??

Another fine example of this is the 400m sprint at the Olympics, The runners are lined up on a ‘staggard start’ around the bend and yet after running at the same speed they end up more or less ‘line abreast’ when they get on the straight.John.
And watch a wide column of marching soldiers turning a corner !
