Aaah, takes me back. Nice piece of film – wonder if we can view the rest of it?
I first visited OW 1962 or 63 and it became my second home (at least during the summer months) – everyone was so friendly and there was a very relaxed attitude in those days.
That’s Wally swinging the Tutor prop – he succeeded Chief Engineer Malcolm Frasier(?) in the late 60’s when he emigrated to work for MOTAT in New Zealand. I think that’s ‘Jacko’ (Sqdn Ldr Jackson, Manager who had been a friend of ROS before the war) in the cockpit of the F2b.
Bert Etheridge and Phil the caretaker are other names that spring to mind.

I haven’t looked, but tried Flight Global??

Is that the RAF museums Wellington in the back ground at about 1m minute , 3 seconds in? Dave
The RAFM’s is a T.10 – wasn’t it turret-less at that time?

Thanks for posting Steve – fascinating. Something I shall be interested to find out more about and I also wonder why the project didn’t continue.
Also wonder if the power unit survives? Research needed methinks 🙂

Thanks for posting. Is the Polikarpov genuine or a replica do you know?

Probably a Jet Provost

I didn’t know that Stoneleigh was used for flying, certainly not with Camels, 504s and the like. Were they on the surface or did you have to use a metal detector to locate them!
The “Militaria” event at the National Agricultural Centre (as was), Stoneleigh. 🙂

(I drove past it twice but was too busy helping my son move house to actually go in )
Farnborough crash DH.110
A number of those killed came from my locality. Many of the members of a coach trip organised by apprentices from Sir W.G.Armstrong Whitworth Aircraft at Baginton were standing together in a group.

That’s a sound idea.
They could call it something like the British Aircraft Preservation Society
Moggy
or perhaps the British Aviation Preservation Council

I’m sure I have read that Bristol did build prefabs – can’t remember where.
Have you tried the Putnam’s Bristol book (C.H.Barnes I think)?

I took one look at the article in WH Smiths and pomptly put the magazine back on the shelf. …………Jon
Did you look at it long enough to see ‘MLZ (or half of her) in the background of the photo of the Cunard Brit at Heathrow?? At first glance I thought it was a modern photo taken at Speke 🙂

Who designed/built the Cumulus? If it was R-R or one of the many companies absorbed by them you could try RRHT.

Cees – I’m one of the many who look at this thread when something new appears, probably think it’s great you are making more progress but don’t neccessarily comment. Surely you keep track of the number of visits – nearly 12,000!!!

[QUOTE=FLYING SAUCER;1532143] Mmmm… Nice seat ! Was this taken at Coventry?….. [QUOTE]
