THATS where i saw the news about the new Merlins!!!
Yes, PLEASE keep us informed, Mark!! BTW i’m beginning to wonder if you’re Peter Arnold!!
Have i entererd a parallel universe, Yak11 fan???- the ONLY way you could improve on a Spitfires looks IMHO are to make it look like an SR-71!
WHAT a surprise THAT was!!- thank you very much Mr Holloway! -BTW, i did think of a good? nickname for you in view of your business and new(ish) collection-Herr piece!! (maybe not!!) – have a great christmas and all the best for the future
ALWAYS nice to see a bearcat in the air- even nicer to see one in such an unusual scheme- well done everybody!!
Also, ‘even a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step!’- well done, John!
i suppose the American expertise on Merlins is a fortunate by-product of the lamentable warbird races
which one is it?
I don’t know much about the bloodhound (missile!), but i know a very interesting piece of trivia about it.- Alan Brown, an engineer on the project, eventually became chief engineer on the F-117 Nighthawk (really!!)
I’m not one to show off, BUT…!- i went for a day out to Duxford years ago and (purely by luck!) they were filming ‘Memphis Belle’ there and were due to fly to Binbrook (i think) for some more scenes that morning, but were delayed by bad weather- i got there just in time to see all 5 taxying out for take off!!:D
Fantastic!! – i’m sure you’ll all join me in a ‘sigh for a Merlin’- with apologies to Alex Henshaw!
You’ll mean this one then…incredible footage…and no fatalities!

With regard to the eBay item I tend to side with Peter on this one; there is no real reason I can see to sell this photo apart from profit. It is a difficult one, and down to personal feeling really but that’s the way I see it.
Thats the one!! and it was a TA-4! – that explains why i couldn’t find it it!! -thanks CD!
Brooklands:D
Getting back on topic for moment (if i may!!!)- wonder what the chances are of that wonderful human being Tom (never met him, but i’m sure he is!!) inviting a few of us forum fighter fans (i like that!!) over to Booker for a few photo’s when this lovely old lady gets her warpaint??? (thought not, but worth a try!!):D
Don’t want to sound goulish, but they did get out! – there was a very unsual video on the other other night showing a test F-18 being ‘chased’ by an A-4 during bomb dropping tests- the A-4 got too close and the bomb took its port wing off!
