I can’t see what the cost of the equipment has to do with anything? An idiot can still get hold of top end equipment!

Those Flug Werk 190 airframes were built in Romania under contract from a German company!
Yeah, just better glue-and KA114 was rebuilt in New Zealand, anyway!
I’m not aware of any inherent problems specifically with American work.
