It means that the a/c did not crash as a result of a weapon hit, but because during ACM it maybe stalled, or the pilot exceeded g limits, got disoriented, or G-LOC, and could not pull up after a dive etc etc… There are MANY things that can go wrong and cause a fighter to crash during maneouvres.
Nelson, registration is free and its used to keep hacker attacks away… Its a non issue…
Yes Liberty was hit by 30mm by at least 2 Mirages and then by 2 Super Mysteres… Use of missiles or rockets has not been confirmed… It was later torpedoed as well by Israeli Gunboats…
The IrAF was certainly not “nothing” and the Iranians did have “spare parts” bought from many sources in the black market, including Israel.
Comparing the October/Yom Kippur war to an 8 year long war is simplistic, as is dismissing the Iranians ans Iraqis as less capable than Israelis.
Skythe, Aias is an expert modeller and the more close up and detailed photos he sees, the better the model will be… 😉
Especially photos of Mirages undergoing maintenance, with panels open or without engines, they will be very helpful I suspect…

Thanks coach! Was the scan from Aeroplane magazine? If anyone has the hi-res unedited jpg file, it would be great! Also it appeared on the Hangar section of the LMTAS site in formation with a Tornado and a JSF while the NSA had RAF roundels…
Jonesy and TJ explained the North Sea sighting in detail in the previous “Aurora” threads…
This must be the 3000th “Best whatever” thread in this forum… Please have mercy on us…
“A-17″,”Aurora”, “Tier III” or something else…?
IIRC inn late 2000 or early 2001 Lockheed Martin uploaded in the Hangar section of the LMTAS site a photograph of what seemed to be an unknown stealth a/c being refuelled along with a Hornet anEagle and a Raptor from the proposed New Strategic Aircraft concept. The picture ( an artists impression to be exact ) was withdrawn and its edited version replaced it:
the original url was:
http://www.lmasc.com/ama/photos/jpegsm/72dpi_usaf.jpg
And the edited version of it can be seen here:
http://www.lmaeronautics.com/gallery/products/ada/adv_mobility/usaf.jpg
and here:

It must be in the archive somewhere although the AFM forum has crashed several times since then, but if anyone has the UNEDITED version of it, feel free to post it…
Very interesting pic!
Please post more… Was it taken by you? Any relation to Milavia btw…?

It costed less than half of the price to buy a new one, otherwise it would’nt be rebuild according to the Greek Air Force regulations.BTW it is NOT the only PA M2K to be rebuild, since at least another one that made an emergency landing on railway tracks was also rebuild, while there are unconfirmed reports for other similar cases…
