Turkey retired its Huns in 1988-9 iirc…
No they are separate programs. BTW the memo is about Greek participation in the program regardless of what LIFT the HAF will choose…
Hope this helps…
Arthur have you seen also the Charlie Buckeyes…? 😉
Cuprus has been used as a base for U-2’s and other US intelligence assets, while lately Russia has been complaining about Aries II flights originating from Cyprus and targeting the Caspain Sea…
FINMECCANICA: AERMACCHI-GREECE AGREEMENT FOR M-346(AGI) – Rome, Italy, Jan.19 – Aermacchi, a Finmeccanica leading company in the production of training military aircraft, and the Greek Defence Ministry signed a Memorandum of understanding for the possible participation of the Greek industry in producing an advanced M-346 training model. The MoU starts the process for a final agreement, which would make Greece a primary partner. Greece is the first European country to sign a cooperation agreement for the programme, and, should the outcome be positive, there will be joint air force programme. Aermacchi is now looking for other European partners, to play either a primary or secondary role, according to the degree of involvement. “We are pleased with Greece’s participation – said Giorgio Zappa, general director of Finmeccanica and Alenia Aeronautica CEO – it strengthens the internationalisation process of the M-346. Involving more industrial partners will speed up the production process, to support training in Europe better, even through possible agreements between the EU founding fathers”. (AGI) –

Last November a delegation of HAF officers visited Italy and evaluated the M-346. It seems they liked what they saw…
Yes, the amazing thing is that Spector was the most famous of the “refuseniks” pilots and that as it came out, until last year he was an instructor at the age of 63…!!

The Vatican uses the Swiss Guards but I don’t think it has an Air Force ( excluding Angels that is…) :dev2:
Newsflash: Reading magazines, believing in “pipeline diplomacy” you read in newspapers and dissmising the cost for maintenance training and spare parts as “next to nothing” and dreaming of “few dozen” F-16’s is not serious…
that’s one of the reasons greece is so poor… the poorest country in the EU… not counting some of the new EU arrivals who are basket cases… And besides… If the Greeks even breath wrong, our best allies the Turks will flatten Athens to the ground.
Now sit back take a loooooong breath and think before posting… Having an Albanian say that Greece is poor is not only hilarious but rather ungrateful… If Athens is “flattened” then the same applies to your economy smartboy :diablo: In any case keep dreaming the comic relief you provide is valuable…
PS 1:Throw in a few dozen F-15’s also while you’re at it and a couple of hundred LeoII’s as well…
PS 2: Do you know what is the cost of maintaining those freshly painted M-113’s and the reason they were towed instead of driven…?
In that case IAI acted as a subcontractor. There was no direct order from Israel but only from the USAF who technically ordered the aircraft from LMTAS and delivered them to the Hellenic AirForce. Its the same case as with HAI which manufactures in Tanagra 30% of the fuselage for all F-16’s (including the Israeli ones) and sends them to LMTAS for assembly.
Albania is not going to get new fighters for a very long time…As Seahawk said some Helos and that’s it…
AFAIK the CFT’s for the Greek 52+’s came from LMTAS.
Yesterday the flag was raised on PTM Kerkyra (L-184, Corfu) in the Naval base at Salamis.
