I am guessing but, early days they used Irish linen, Dacron etc were natural based fabrics and hence shrunk with dope. later on man made fibres such as Ceconite and Stitz etc (polyester fibres) are heat shrunk then built up with dope coats Ceconite etc is probably at least half the price of linen so Irish linen is normally used for originality purposes. Not normally a good idea to cover wooden structures with Ceconite,

I like my finger on the pulse but not a bloody A/C prefeerably females, but A/C are probably females ie can be awkward and tempremental most of the time:D

B17, your’e having a larrrrffff surely, horrible things I remember a certain wooden A/C that had an equal bomb load and was powered by only 2 engines and flew like S–T off a shovel:D 😀 😀

Kin hell can’t you morbid sods find something else to talk about other than crashes. It’s bad enough for people who lose family and friends due to thease accidents without people who invariably don’t know diddly squat about it raking it up over and over again.can’t we please show some sensitivity and respect and cut out all the crap and put this to rest or if you can’t then please go get a life
