I havent been on one of their A320’s but the A321’s are very nice inside with dark blue leather seats. I’m sure all the A320’s have these interiors aswell?
Trust me, having been round the MYT offices and maintanance they are not what they used to be, I believe they are one of the best charter airlines now (biased opinion but hey) and they have some great great staff! Look at their on time performance now and three/four years ago ….. says it all really!
If your flights are like any of the MYT ones I have been on, it will be great. Hope you have a nice holiday! 🙂
lol actually as wierd as it sounds yeh it was
p.s. great videos on you tube lol
You would have been on the first on as that was arriving from Newcastle with you on but the second one was the same flight arriving on the 31st so you wold not be on that one yet.
If Jet2 is gonig to branch further into the charter market (this may be the future as Thomas Cook are taking seats on Jet2.com flights from LBA this winter) they are going about it the right way. Traditional package holidays were wither 7 or 14 nights crammed into a charter airline with generally lower standards i.e. legroom, they were hearded onto coaches and told to do this and that and buy excursions from the reps so they can have a few extra quid in their pocket. Now i’m not dissing package holidays, actualy the opposite I agree with aidoair, reps take the stress out of it all, and there is always a ‘familiar’ face you can speak to in person or by the phone if a problem does arise. In fact on recent holidays we have always found the rep a great help if we’re not familiar with that area.
Jet2holidays is different as people have complete flexibility on dates and they are offered taxi transfers as standard. This is going to be the future of package holidays and Jet2 has got in the boat early before the likes of MyTravel/Thomas Cook etc by offering these little extras. So in theory a % of the plane is sheduled pax and the other % are package holiday pax for example a 757 to PMI 180 scheduled seats and 58(or watever) seats for the packages.
All I can say is all the best to Jet2holidays they have taken a risky move and lets just hope for the sake of the good old package holiday that they make it a success.
I wouldnt say that the charter market is in big decline, yes in certain areas ie spain it is, but how many people are brave enough to book a flight in somewhere like Egypt or Tunisia then find a car and a hotel, not many. I would say that the charter market is certianly changing for better? for worse? who knows but in 10 years time a good percentage of people will still want the security of a package.
Well thats what I think ……………..:o
Thanks for the comments,
Tommy,
Well from what I can remember that one for you going home was actually arriving from NCL not departing so to speak, If I remeber right I was sat in a Bar in Los Christianos with my laptop as it flew over at about 8.30:confused: I also made a hash of editing it to bring out the Jet2 on it so hence why the sky is red and not darkish! You have a good holiday?
Yeah the hotel really was good a lot of people go back year after year and it looks like we may be back off in Easter!:D Yup those old A300’s are indeed ‘classics’ now!! catch one while you can!
I dont know if i have missed something but where has the doncaster rumour come from?
There is no logical sense at all opening a base or just having the odd flight from dsa, mainly becuase they will be competing against themselves at lba, man and ncl!!! They would be mad moving into TOM territory as that is a well known brand around there and i suspect jet2 is a less well known brand!
And no way would they go from no flights straight to a 767 at dsa!! there are no establised customers and destiantions from dsa that could sustain a 767 with jet2, even if this rumour was true (hope not!! ) then surely they wouls start ops with a 733?
regarding long haul, in a simple yes/no answer are places like SFB, JFK, POP, DXB within a range of a 767 (or 757????) from lba? I guess there would be no issues with getting a 767 to alc or pmi from lba?
From what I have seen and heard I think it does:
MON-
MYT127 ALC
TUES-
MYT231 PMI
MYT295 PMI
WED-
MYT115 IBZ / MYT171 RHO(?)
MYT141 LCA
THURS-
Swap with GLA based 767(?)
FRI-
MYT193 IBZ
MYT173 HRG
SAT-
MYT161 ALC
MYT111 FUE
SUN-
MYT151 IBZ(?)
MYT265 SSH
BUT none of that is confimed. A full schedule would be nice if anyone does have one lol wouldnt mind a trip on one before they leave!
Good to see the A300 back at LBA again 😀
Great Pics!
Nope the one in AW was on the 14th Jan, exactly the same day though … same set up etc etc …. I did actually say to my mum on the day I wonder if there was an under cover reporter but obv it was the other one they went to! lol
Very nice pictures. I’m loving the fags at the first officers side on the A340 cockpit shot! :diablo:
Cheers guys, I gotta say that G-DIMB looks absolutley fab, just a shame we dont get her more often!
Does anyone know what routes MYT’s B767’s are operating this summer? We are looking to book a holiday soon and the 767’s are going soon …… my little mission to get on one again! lol 😀
Has there been any confirmation of what brands are to stay and which are to go? A mate of mine said that he heard they are going to be selling holidays under the Thomas Cook and Airtours brands with flights operated by MyTravel airways as they are going to use MYTs operating licence or something?? anyone else heard the same?
Any help much appreciated
to me it seems that MYT have had no say in this, their company identity has just lost itself now and wont ever re-appear. I personally think this is a step backward for the travel industry, it is becoming such a dominated place, unless First Chioce are bought/merged then they are not going to easily survive as there will be so much competition between MYT/TCX and the TUI groups.
It has been said that the merger will try to compete with lo-cost airlines, could this mean that the airline could be sperated into two parts for example B757/A330 package holidays and A320/A321 lo-co sun flights?
One good thing is that both TCK/MYT have still got some commitment to regional airports, lets hope this will see more aircraft spread over the UK rather than MAN and LGW:D
Lets hope this does not mean the end of the MyTravel brand, that would be a shame as I really liked it. I wonder what this will mean for the aviation side, could we see one large airline or do you think they may keep them seperate?
Fantastic pictures! 😀
