I’m here in Tucson, and will be hitting both Pima A&SM and the Bone Yard… should be interesting to see some of these airframes. With all of the street art I’m seeing around town, I’m surprised they’re not letting more in to do this.

Here is a picture of an O-2, which I believe is part of the Aero Club at Offutt AFB, NE. The picture was taken at the Offutt Air Show in 2005. As it’s been 4 years since I was stationed there, I can not say for sure if it is still in use or not.

Nice pictures! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the information.
I’ve never used a photo editor before, and don’t know that would be something I’d have the patience for.
The one worry I have is getting a camera capable of taking action shots, and a camera that has a good battery life. Battery life tends to be important to me because often when I’m taking the scenery pictures, I’m out in the middle of nowhere, and recharging could be an issue, as well as the annual Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, where I easily burn through 500 pictures over the course of 2 hours or so.
Currently, I own a Canon PowerShot A570… it’s been a nice camera for me for a few years now, but I feel my needs have gone far past the limitations of this camera, mainly in the areas of the full zoom and any sort of action shots.
Again, thanks for the information you’ve given me. I’ve been afraid that the DSLR cameras may be far more than what I need, and wasn’t sure if the bridge cameras would fit the basics for what I do photography-wise. The information you’ve provided so far is helping me understand things that were very foreign to me.

All of the aircraft showed signs of weathering, with the Voodoo probably being the worst. But in general, they all appeared to be in pretty good shape considering the sun and occasional incliment weather out in eastern New Mexico.
A side note on the Voodoo… this aircraft apparently holds the all-time speed record for aircraft flown at the Edwards AFB test facility.

Some great shots there. Thanks for sharing!

Fantastic pictures! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the post! I’d love to see that in person.
Amazing pictures! Thanks for sharing!
Here are a few more pictures. While I have a few more in the collection, what I’ve posted are pretty well the only ones worthy of sharing (some stuff not in frame, or just bad pics in general). Sadly, during the tour, you must remain in the bus. You can’t imagine how badly I wanted to get out and get better shots of what I was seeing!

On a side note… I’m re-working my aircraft photos on Flickr (uploading and reorganizing photos by locations and dates). It’s an on-going process for me, but if anyone would like to take a look, here’s the link:

Next month, we’re scheduled to host an Air Show here at Kirtland AFB. From what I’m told, it will be the first Air Show in roughly 5 years (I’ve been here just over 3). I’m excited to see what all gets brought in, and hopefully will be able to get some pics of the CV-22 Osprey (which is stationed here).
When taking the tour, they told us that a lot of the aircraft could be restored to flying condition within 90 – 120 days. Of course, there are also a lot of aircraft there that are being used for parts (as was obvious of the KC-135 and the C-5s),and will never fly again.
Nice pictures, indeed. With the exception of the occasional Tornado stopping over, I rarely get to see European aircraft here. With that in mind, I wanted to send along a thanks to everyone for their fantastic pictures!
If anyone is interested, I have some photos of some American aircraft from various air shows while I was stationed at Offutt AFB, NE. I also have a lot of museum pictures… USAF Museum (Wright-Patterson AFB), SAC Museum (Offutt AFB/Gretna, NE), and the Pima Air Museum (Tucson, AZ). Just need to get them down to a size that will allow me to post.
Again, my thanks to everyone for their great pictures!
