Mongu, what are you talking about? My family’s German and I have a wicked sence of humour! Where did that come from???

I was mearley pointing out that I have a couple of screensavers that are not along the line of funny but more along the lines of nostalga!

Monster: you are quiet correct, it was a shock though. The question is rather miss leading, I admit, but I wanted to know what a/l have gone since 11/09/01 not only due to the incident but for any reason!

Indian Alize

Here you go guys, a pic of an Indian Navy Alize. This one is now at the Naval Aviation museum in Goa! There is a facinating collection there in cluding a Sea Harrier!

Snoop, Akagi had two hanger decksthat were open at the bow, thus giving three points for take off, each upper deck was shorter than the lower one and landings always happened on the top deck. During the war though, the lower decks were closed offdue to sea spray making the deck slipery! As a concequencs the top deck was extended andactually hung over both the bow and the stern by near on 10 feet!

Ise and Hyuga were built in the mid 20’s with eight 14′ guns, the hanger replaced the last set of guns whilest still giving a six gun broad side of considerable power! I agree that they weren’t a replacement but did manage to keep Japanese air power on the high seas! One must wonder if the Russians studied this when they built the Moskva class ships!

As for flying at sea, it is a challenge that only the superior can handel 😛

Nice pics, that’s the AEW model, the ones I posted were of the ASW model!

Someone was after pics of the wings whilest they were unfolding and I found one, oh well.

Hey Buddy,
We’ve got four down here, with another ten amost ready, most of them usually fly to Wanaka for the event over there!

NZ has about six over there

Anyway here’s a pic of the first to refly, yes it is an old pic (As you can see by the date) but it still flies and still looks the same!

Forget the runway looking short, what about the glide slope angle. That has got to be the steepest in the world!

IIRC, kai tak is still there! it’s now used by the government as a military and police airfield using mainly helos!

I know for a fact that Banko has grown since 1994! When was this film made can you supply any details?

I do know that Bankstown has no tower help after 18:00 as well, and they cover not only Bankstown but Camden, Hoxton Park, Wollongong and a couple of other places, but anyway!

Almost as bad as Darwin weather, here’s a pic of 75Sqdn up there (I know wrong forum, but I’m showing weather not planes)!

Don’t know if your being sarcastic or not Glenn, but I love that type of weather, that’s why I chose to live here in the Gong!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-03-02 AT 11:28 AM (GMT)]Glenn, the Avon Saber, though American initially, was not American. The Avon Jet engine was British and when Australia Selected the F-86 as a replacement for the Meteor, they were unimpressed with alot of things!
First to go was the .50 cal guns, replaced with two 20mm Hispano Cannons.

The engine was also changed, and in order to accomadate the new Avons some modifications were needed! So in effect, these machines were Australian. After their service with the RAAF, the RMAF used about 50 of them and only retired them in the 1980’s

They were also equiped to fire the AIM-9 Sidwinder, not sure if any other country’s Sabers were, but the American machines weren’t!

If memory serves they were designated CA-23’s, but don’t quote me on that!
