Keithmac, was the Wirlwind of 28Sqdn the Twin WWII type of the Helo Wirlwind?

If it was the former, could you talk more about it, and maybe some pics, I love this little beast and belive that with a bit of mods it could have been one of the best during the war!

RE: A little something for everyone?

    Four a/c caught my eye
    1. The ME-163 in british markings (did England Flight test it)?
    2. The RDAF Cat, why is that there?
    3. The Helo next to the DC-3, what type is it? and
    4. The Plane in front of the Prone Pilot Meteor, is that a Winjeel with a three bladed prop?

Nice pic all the same, looks like the Air Force museum at RAAF Point Cook!

Sure as the nose is on my face, you can’t mistake the Emil (Sorry that was the name, I just couldn’t remember), it had a long squareish nose (as opposed to the nice round one of the Gustav) and the part that tiped me off was the tail struts (Gustavs never had them)

I’ll try and find out more and see if I can get a pic or ten

    For all who are interested

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-01-02 AT 06:18Β PM (GMT)]There is an Ernest being repaired to flying status at the museum “Fighter World” at RAAF Williamtown I’ve seen it sitting outside in company with a Spitfire 1a. This was about four years ago and it was being done in 1940 France colours of two tone green and black underside. I remember a white number on the side but I can’t remember what number it was πŸ™

Looks like I’ll have to go and visit my father again right? Who knows I might be able to get a play with it πŸ˜›

Also I remember seeing an ME-108 being reastored to flying condition at Bankstown Airport, at the time it was the only one being restored to flying status in the world! I’ll chase this up as well as any other goodies I can find, ok? Just remind me now and then by email, my memory is shot these days!

    US spying on China, naaahhhh!

Never, what would China know that the US don’t? Oh right, that πŸ˜›
These games just keep getting sillier and sillier, notice there was no mention about the US finding bugs in their returned EP-3? Nor did they mention that half of the equipment that was still intact was missing?

I lived in China for three months (Xian, Harbin and Guangzhou), and even though I was on official navy business I was watched like a hawk, I never felt alone, and it was a creepy feeling! My fiance and I had two students living with us and they didn’t know I spoke Chinese, some of what they talked about concerned me, stuff like making personal threats to us and such, in the end we told them both to move out, we own the house not them. The last one to move out refused to and the police had to move him he even fought with them, he was later arrested for, among other things, being an illegal immigrant!

I don’t think the situation in China will disipate any time soon unfortunately πŸ™ And I don’t think that buying a plane from Airbus will solve the problem either, China is sending a clear statment to the world, and that statement is “Leave us alone”. The political question is, “Could China be left alone to perssue it’s own goal without any recoarse of action towards hostilities”? Sadly the answer is No, their hard standing on Taiwan is one point as is the Spratley Islands debate. If China is left alone, it will just build up it’s forces to a point where it would take a very large multi national force, to stop them, if ever.

Personally I don’t like where China is heading and I don’t like the picture that seems to be forming in the future. I pray for sanity and hope that Chairman Zaing soon comes to his scencs and backs down from his hardline, iron fist pollicies!

    Anyone like to comment?

Hey Hali, I gave you one to play with but I don’t see it anywhere, did you not see it? If not it’s at the end of the string about the Warning to All modifiers”, go play with it and show me what you can do, there’s a good fellow πŸ˜›
