Firstly Welcome L4_Pilot, thanks for joining the board!
I still don’t understand why the Manchester was such a flop? Adding another two engines and a new name usually doesn’t work, but no one can deny the impact that the Lanc had not only on the Europeans and the Commonwealth, but also the Americans.

Oh well, both nice pics well done guys. Just out of curiosity are there any Manchesters still around?

For sure the company is still around, and one of the leading makers of military transports, their range includes
C-212, most successful small transport aircraft.
CN-235, produced in partnership with Indoneasia.
C-295, now being devloped as a MPA for which Poland has just ordered.

They also produce the C-101 Jet trainer, and have a good hand in the Typhoon II. Helps maintain the Spainish, Moroocan and Tunisian fighter fleets, and just finished rebuilding and upgrading the Spainish navies Seakings.

Now the fourth biggest member of EADS consortium! The Address above is the correct one.

Ok Christer, I have two engines , that I’d like to know the workings of, the First is the Twin Wasp radial and the second it the Gannet ASW a/c, might be time for old uncle Keithmac to step in!

Hali, mate, come out from under the rock. I’m not having a go at you, it’s just that it might be nice to ask first before you do offend someone, me personally I like some of what you do, you’re a ledgend!

Some other people are abit frightened that their serious pics will end up photoshopped to death and the original purpose for them being there will be lost!

So in all fairness, ask the person if it’s alright to use the pics, just to be polite! Most people will be Honoured by your choice of their pic for your humor 🙂 I know I am and Like Rabie said lets keep it in one strain, not millions all over the place, say one a week?

Oh and Hali, I’m sorry but for copping this on the chin like a trooper, I’m gonna have to rate you, sorry mate, “God have mercy on his soul”! 😉

I also have to agree, after spending time in the navy around compasses like this one. Judging by the size of the pen next to it, I’d say that it came from a small vessel, possibly either an E-boat (German MTB), or a small sub maybe a Type VII, but nothing bigger. It definatly comes from a small vessel, where space is of a premium. Your best bet would be to take it to a war museum and have it looked at there, if they can’t help you no-one can.

What about the old H/K airport, the planes used to come down on a really steep angle over the buildings, some actually cliped them. There was only a 4m clearence between the plane and the building :O

Love the guy scratching his head at the front of the plane, right place right time 😛

Ashley we do get RD down here, in fact I just bought the latest video RD Smeg outs, for my fiance for Chrissy 🙂 Highly recommended, especially the part of Craig Charles reciting a poem off the top of his head at a convention, not to mention the video having the complete “Tounge Tied” song on it 😛
