It took me most of my career (I retired yesterday!) to realise that material wealth is just ‘stuff’ that you can’t take with you, and having it doesn’t make you a better person, or any happier inside.
When I left school, if you had ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels you could almost pick and choose any job you wanted. Now, even highly qualified graduates will settle for almost any job, just to get on the ladder.
So in the job I’ve just vacated, which only needed 5 ‘O’ levels minimum when I joined in 1975, my 5 young colleagues doing the same job now include a Doctor (speciality ocean trench sediments!), a girl with a 1st in Aeronautics, and another with a 1st in Astrophysics.
What a waste of valuable resources – it just can’t be good for the economy…

Growing up around HMS Fulmar (Lossie), I too have very fond memories of the FAA, and seeing Scimitars lined up there is one of my earliest memories.
    Thanks for posting!

I find it staggering how modern intelligent people can be so blinkered, hoodwinked and influenced by what may or may not have happened back in the Iron Age.
Yet people still let it govern their thoughts and actions – it’s like NASA having to consult the bible on how to land humans on Mars.
The Romans kept amazingly detailed records about who they ruled, jailed, and executed, but there is absolutely no mention of a Jesus in any historic record. They had gods for every occasion, but managed to whittle it down to one – and even he’s well past his sell-by date!

The sooner all humanity can do without these primitive belief systems the better…

The Ju188 had a huge glazed cockpit, both the 88 and 188 had cockpits which were much higher than the fuselage dorsal line, and neither had dorsal turrets.

The mystery aircraft’s cockpit, on the other hand, is in line with the spine, in the same style as a Wellington, Whitley, Beaufighter, and Blenheim, and it does have a turret…

    But not underslung engines…

Underslung engines? You can see the port engine pod outboard fillet shadow on the top of the wing. Due to the light conditions, only the wing leading edge is showing up, as a shadow.
    Those radials are mid-mounted…

Could that ‘C’ stamp be Canadair?
Some Canadair Sabres used Avro Canada Orenda engines…

The Avon is fairly similar too…

Radials, sloping nose with that bulge underneath, and a dorsal turret – it’s a Blenheim V…

It may, or may not be.

It has earned Al an infraction point anyway.

Indeed. Many of us outside the countries concerned heartily support independence for the subjugated and oppressed minorities of the proud Celtic nations and wish them every success.

Yeah, yeah, you’ve laughed at your own feeble jokes before. For your information most Scots aren’t Celts, you sneering self-important tw*t.
