Homo Sapiens is by far the worst destructive virus to hit poor old planet Earth in her history – and removing the species from the experiment could only have beneficial effects. I’ve often wondered if Mother Nature would get tired of us at some stage, and introduce some means of mass cull, just as she controls overpopulations of other species.
We humans like to think we’re the absolute zenith of evolution, to be protected and nurtured at any cost, but really we are no more important in the great scheme of things than the dead bugs on any dirty car windshield.
    Bring it on…

Just watched a 2008 motorcycle movie called ‘Hell Ride’ on DVD.
It promised Michael Madsen, Dennis Hopper, David Carradine, and Vinnie Jones, and released under the ‘Quentin Tarantino Presents’ banner – so far so good.
Filmed like a flashbacked, over-exposed spaghetti western, the plot was almost non-existant, and the actors seemed to just make up a constant stream of clichéd one-liners throughout. Sad to see even ‘Easy Rider’ Dennis Hopper looked very ill at ease riding a motorcycle, and the others were worse.
A constant theme was the obvious exploitation of scores of young actresses who were willing to get naked and be groped by these old guys just to get a bit-part in this movie.
With a little bit of thought this movie might have become a minor cult classic, but even at £3 in the bargain DVDs in Tescos this movie was a complete waste of money…

Here’s a Lancaster window I found in an old WW2-vintage aircraft dump, which has been painted over as they did in those days. It might give you some idea of the colours underneath the camo paint – and it looks like there was no primer applied, unless it was put on before the window was put in. The colours on the outside are black, then dark earth, then dark green on top. The inside is interior green.

If by soul you mean the “essence” of the person that dies with them. If you refer to some spectral component of the individual then we are entering the realms of fantasy.

I didn’t mean soul in any religious context, but, as you say, the vital ‘essence’ of what makes us peculiarly ‘us’.
Even identical twins have different characters. To me reincarnation is not about being born into an identical body as the one you’ve just vacated, but having the same thought processes, thus being aware that you’ve lived before in other times through dreams, etc.
Documented cases of reincarnation often explore the studied individual’s regression into different genders, hard to do in the same body!
Mind you, without the person being aware of reincarnation, it may as well have not happened…

Surely it’s the person’s soul which would be reincarnated, not the physical body…

Very sad to hear of his death – he always came across as a really funny and interesting guy on his TV appearances.
Wasn’t he the one who got hung up during the drop from the embassy roof?
Condolences to his friends and family…
